I think it's possible that the young healthy people who traditionally did not buy health insurance are unaware that the mandate is not longer law. Once they cancel and stop buys, things are going to unravel pretty quickly.

I noticed that the biggest proponents of Obamacare are young people with no chronic illness who pay very low premiums because they have a lousy job that doesn't pay much and therefore get a big subsidy. I know one guy who's like "Obamacare is great because health insurance only costs me $50 a month!" Of course, these young people don't get that with a $10,000 deductible they still might go bankrupt from a medical bill even though the insurance paid a lot. Young people don't remember when things were better in healthcare. (Not that it was that great to begin with, but costs are radically out of control now.)

Quite a few of those younger people advocating for the ACA are still on their parents's plans, and don't have to pay anything yet.

Ain't it that's what Democrats do best? Bribe people for votes by providing some sort of financial subsidy in exchange for the erosion of freedom? lol :rockwoot:

I can't wait to see how that all ends when the Fed collapses because the money printing is only sustainable as long as other countries buy US debt. Not to mention inflation...

The 26 year old on the parents plan was genius on the part of the Obamacare design. It pushed off a huge responsibility to gain maturity and understand real world expenses by 5-8 years, depending on how you figure it.

Right at the age youths come into adulthood, when they NEED understanding of finances, Obamacare tells them they are kids for another eight years.

The Justice Department has announced that it is siding with a district court that ruled Obamacare is unconstitutional.

The bigger problem is that the younger folks RELISHED it. Way back, when you were a kid you were eager to show your maturity, your readiness for adulthood. We were eager to get driver's licenses, pay or own way and all that.

Now we've gotten to where some younger kids aren't eager to move out of the house, don't want to drive, don't want to work, and frankly are happy to sit on the couch and social media 24/7.

Ok, so now what? Another USSC case?

26 million people didn't have health insurance for various reasons (expensive to treat pre-existing conditions made it unaffordable, unemployment or minimal employment etc)

Then by government fiat, the health care system was distorted to mitigate the 'problem' (the 'problem' being that rather than operate as a capitalist system, health care was now a 'right')

Now, by similar government fiat, the system will be returned (to the extent possible) to the pre-existing equilibrium. The distortions that arose to the system during ACA are not 'problems' that we are obligated to fix

"the individual mandate is unconstitutional because it can no longer be read as a tax, and there is no other constitutional provision that justifies this exercise of congressional power on the severability question, we remand to the district court to provide additional analysis of the provisions of the ACA as they currently exist."

With our healthcare costs getting higher by the day, with fewer employers paying a lower percentage of their workers' premiums, and with the highest infant mortality rate in the Norhtern Hemishpere.

    Don't get sick.
Why should an employer HAVE to pay anything towards your healthcare?
