This is from back in Oct 2019 and I thought I had seen it here already, but I can't find it in this forum. So:

    https://www.whio.com/news/crime--la...t-released-police-say/H0WwJwFmqafDIGgcwJxXKO/

A young man with a pending weapons charge and possibly involved in other robberies walked into a Dollar General in Dayton OH, displaying a handgun and demanding money. He pointed the gun at one of the clerks.

The clerk, who had a license to carry, drew his own pistol and shot the robber. The robber fired back but didn't hit anyone, made it just outside the front doors, collapsed and died.

That particular store had been robbed four times already.

Sadly unsurprisingly, the robber's sister blames the clerk. She apparently is of the opinion and people should just submit to having guns illegally pointed at them and being robbed:

Another slightly older one that I don't remember seeing here:

Austin Texas, back in November 2019. This is a very Austin robbery story.

    https://www.statesman.com/news/2019...ker-drew-guns-on-each-other-austin-police-say

Uber Eats driver makes delivery at 0235, turns around to find a guy standing close to him. Uber tells him to back off, man asks Uber what time is it while pulling a bandana over his face and drawing a Glock.

Uber draws a Sig 238 and [cue Ennio Morricone music]...they point guns at each other for awhile.

Would-be robber finally backs off, Uber hides among vehicles until he can get to his car and call cops. 911 tells him to go to a nearby 7/11. Upon meeting a cop at 7/11, the cop notices a guy walking down the street. Uber says, "That's the guy who just tried to rob me." Would-be Rob tells cop that he was trying to keep Uber from being robbed by someone else. Cop didn't buy it.

    Just keepin' Austin weird.

Two process servers (apparently civilian or private, not deputies) tried to serve papers on an elderly couple. They weren't having it.

The female servee yelled and charged at the servers...but fell down. Then the male servee then fired a flare gun from a 2nd floor balcony at the servers. The male server had a concealed handgun permit, obtained his weapon, pointed it at the male servee telling him to stop. Male servee fired a few more flare rounds anyway, bouncing one off the servers' car hood. One of the servers called the sheriff and deputies arrived to find male server holding male servee at gun point. He gave up to cops willingly but female servee got feisty.

Male servee arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm and using a firearm under influence of alcohol (no surprise there), female servee arrested for resisting arrest and battery.

    Port Arthur Texas

During an undercover drug operation at a Motel 6 in Opelousas Louisiana an officer left his unmarked police car running with his AR 15, body armor, badge, And “other equipment” in it. Some guy walked out of a motel room and drove off with it.

He drove east on I 10 towards Texas, and tried to steal a car at gunpoint at a grocery store.

He then drove on and used the rifle to try to steal another vehicle from a man and woman crabbing in Port Arthur Texas.

The man was able to get his handgun from his car, exchanged gunfire with the thief, and shot him several times, killing him.

The Louisiana police got their car and equipment back… Except for the rifle which went into evidence.

Well done on the crabber’s part.

    ETA:

This article notes that The guy who stole the police car was not the focus of the narcotics investigation at the Motel 6. He apparently just saw his opportunity and he took it. Maybe he didn’t realize that he was not the focus of the Motel 6 operation.

Also according to the article the crabbers both had “concealed handgun licenses”. The woman was slightly injured on one arm, possibly from flying glass.

Port Arthur police detective Mike Hebert:

“What a nightmare it must have been,” he said. Every other Port Arthuran loves Pleasure Island. Med-County, Beaumont loves to come to Pleasure Island. I’m sure it certainly was an initial shock to them, the husband who defended his wife. It was very heroic.”

Once Port Arthur police complete their investigation, it will be turned over to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. Port Arthur officials said that they do not anticipate any arrests.

Is that a variation on the uncle Joe Biden shotgun off the balcony?

Damn. I used to crab a lot. Hand lines with rotten chicken on the end but that's not the point. Usually the big excitement was catching a spider crab.

Great on these two for being ready to roll.

Two things wrong with that story.

    1. Using a Judge as an HD weapon
    2. Shooting someone in the legs (twice even) who just kicked in your door

According to homeowner (that is, according to what the reporter, who reported according to the police, who said according to the homeowner) an intoxicated man walked into the home at about 0530, made threats and "furtive" movements, so the homeowner shot him. The furtively intoxicated man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injury (or injuries). No arrests, and police are investigating.

I don't think it made the news, but a recent local one:

Parents are out. Alarm goes off. They see a break-in (I guess via remote security camera viewing). Day shift arrived and found the burglar prone being held at gunpoint by two teenagers, one with an AR and one with a handgun. Burglar had broken in by busting out a window. Nobody injured.
