It is disappointing that only one post on here was about avoidance. Be smart enough not to go where trouble is. I live in Indy and there are places I don't go to and the reasons should be obvious. So far I have not run into any problems.

I want a police scanner to put in my car to help with these problems. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to do this either on here or PM me.

I understand what you're saying, and in general, I agree with it. But there is an issue in principle when your point is taken too far. As a general rule, avoiding stupid people doing stupid things in stupid places at stupid times is wise.

But this is not that. This is law-abiding people being impeded from conducting lawful activities in broad daylight. To apply the avoidance principle here runs the risk of giving in to the law of the jungle.

My wife uses the Waze navigation app. You can talk to it as you drive and tell it about road problems and it will direct others to avoid them.

It will tell you the route that it wants to take you and if you say you would like to take a certain route it will take you that way.

Waze is fantastic. I use it all the time, particularly when I'm on the road.

I have about 3 acres that I am supposed to mow surrounded by acres of woods. I have a line of woods that somehow or another locust trees love to come out of every year. One year I took many 3 week camping trips over the summer. Some of those locusts were too big for my finish mower. I had to get out the bush hog. There were a couple of trees that I didn't get cleared out until fall and the locust used them for cover. Over time, if I don't push back locusts and weeds because they cause me trouble, sooner or later, I won't have a yard and the thorns from those things will attack me almost as soon as I go out the door.

On my land, I am king and establish the law for the locusts. If I don't enforce the law, they will ignore all my efforts and overrun the place taking my kingdom.

I expect the "kings" i elect over me to enforce the established laws of the land so that I don't have to deal with it on my own when they finally arrive at my kingdom.

Constitutionally, what the city council implicitly approved, by explicitly approving the BLM "mural" that defaces public property, is every other form of political statement expressed by similarly defacing public property. Allowing a "Black Lives Matter" political statement that defaces a public roadway while prohibiting any other political statement that defaces a public roadway (particularly, a political statement that counters the explicitly approved political statement - and that would include defacing the "approved" defacement) would be unquestionably unconstitutional.

Therein lies the danger in the city council approving defacement of a public roadway for a political statement. Maybe don't do that, and instead encourage expression of political statements using other means that don't require city council approval.

Criminal mischief (vandalism) of state-sponsored criminal mischief (vandalism) is not allowed by the politburo.

Finally the truth of the matter. Screw ur dam unions.

Video and photos of two antifa thugs roaming the streets, committing TWO forcible felonies against a motorist. And their identities are known.
But thank God we're getting the union rules nailed down.
Two perps are using what looks like deadly force. Finger on trigger. I drive a Yukon xl. IF I’m alone. I know when I put it up n L for leap I can run over both perps. Then we will c what the police thinks later. Or I can take my truck gun and practice trigger control. What is wrong with u men? Grow a set of better yet take that face diaper off and breath some fresh air.

I know this may be hard to understand, but there is a difference in Rules and a Contract.
To tell someone to put their livelihood on the line because you want them to Man Up is asinine.
I hope that they make their decisions collectively, it's the only way to remain strong.

Better get your ham radio license. Last count its illegal to use a police scanner in a vehicle unless you are a ham.

And in the last 6-12 months I deleted my scanner app from my phone. Seemed like the scanner for IMPD was offline more than on. And I have a vague recollection that the owner of the actual scanner that was broadcasting was an INGOer. I could be wrong on that one.

Oh, and the really fun traffic is probably happening on the tac channels, which as I recall are either encrypted or the scanner owner just didnt program in because everytime I'd hear them say they were going to a tactical channel they would disappear from the scanner app traffic.

When it gets real interesting they usually go encrypted.

    I recommend Uniden Home Patrol

Discone antenna at the house. Dual purpose.

It's not illegal to have a police scanner in your vehicle.

It's illegal to get caught with a police scanner in your vehicle.

    Big difference.

LOL, The first paragraph and the second paragraph are the same thing with a 'yes its wise' for the 1st and a 'go ahead put yourself at risk' for the 2nd.

    Two points/thoughts:

    1) "Avoidance" is all well and good, when it can be premeditated (I'm thinking of the idiot judges who got into a gunfight outside of the strip club at 3AM in downtown Indy a while back). Being unexpectedly impeded from going about normal, everyday, lawful endeavors is something else. What if the guy in the truck was simply on his way to/from work, on his normal commute route, or going to the store, or whatever - and suddenly/unexpectedly came upon the armed mob of protesters? One cannot plan for avoidance in that situation, and how one deals with it upon encountering it is entirely situation-dependent.

    2) How far will you let the locust trees encroach (thanks, Foszoe) in the name of "avoidance"? Should law-abiding people allow downtown Indy to turn into North Saint Louis, in the name of "avoidance"? There are a lot of law-abiding people in North Saint Louis (or South Chicago, etc.) who are forced to live with the reality of an entire area being given over to lawlessness. Why? Because law-abiding people allowed it to happen, in part due to "avoidance". There is absolutely something to be said for law-abiding people standing up for the Rule of Law and the free exercise of liberty to conduct lawful endeavors.
