Hope they are realistic in what they expect to happen now. I worked at a place where some people were talking about joining a union. They seemed to think as soon as they joined they would have benefits and higher wages. I left there before anything got serious but don't think they ever did.
Another place I worked was a small electric motor/machine shop and one of the nine employees contacted the IBEW and got things set up and a vote done. The company put out a lot of BS about how everyone was better off without a union. Vote went 8 to 1 with my vote the only one "for." Yes, the person that started it all ended up voting against the union. You can bet your a** in a small shop I never admitted to anyone I had that lone vote. Left there soon anyway. Jim.

    under your bed!!!
Another Amazon warehouse tried this last year but got voted no. I have heard it was because Amazon told them the negotiations for wages and benefits would start at minimum wage. Amazon doesn't care if they have to close one warehouse. There is something like 150 across America with more being built constantly. They will just reroute the freight.

Probably not this location. Staten island isn’t exactly on the way to anywhere else.

Leave it to NY to pave the way for this ****. I hope it bites them in the ass, somehow.

ALL unions suck. People should be incentivized on their individual performance, not some collective bargaining or how long they’ve been with a company.

Amazon along with Walmart will absolutely shutdown a Super Center or a Distribution Center over employees voting Union.
Next time your in a Walmart ask yourself why there are no butchers cuting up meat in the meat department.
I'm a pro-union man,, but should employees be able to tell a for profit company what benefits they are going to receive?

I don’t shop for meat at Walmart and don’t care for people that do. My own father included.

It’s sick how many people shop exclusively at that store and then complain about the condition of this country. If my dad could get his dentistry and colonoscopy work done at Walmart, he would.

If they don’t like what they’re getting, there’s plenty of jobs available…there’s the door.

I wasn't aware that Walmart is responsible for the condition of our Country?
Here I thought the Legislation and The Executive Branch of the Federal Government are responsible for the downfall of US manufacturers.

They don't tell the company what benefits they receive, they negotiate.

I don't imagine this was brought on by wages alone. The Amazon delivery guy for here has been working 7 days a week for probably 2 years now and he doesn't seem to be enjoying it.

    That’s where you’re wrong, wisenheimer.

It’s not Walmarts fault, it’s the American baby boomer and scummy consumers that buy cheap garbage from retailers that exclusively shop overseas for their wares to keep ‘rock bottom prices’ that put the American manufacturing out of business.

Don’t try and twist what I’m saying…it makes you seem like an ass.

We can actually have an intelligent conversation here and don’t need to use underhanded techniques for ‘proving you’re right.’ There is no right or wrong to this…it’s a two sided argument (at least).

I see your side. I disagree with it.

I buy quite a bit of made in the US products from Walmart. I'm unaware of a store that sells US made products only, if there was I would definitely do my shopping there.

And that’s fine. I was generalizing. I forgot that I’m on INGO and splitting hairs is common practice. Can’t possibly have an opinion outside of the ‘collective.’

Hey…you guys should start a union!!!

“The amalgamated conversation twisters and thread dogpilers brotherhood of INGO crap posters United!”

…kinda got a ring to it, don’t it?

The only negotiating thats done when a corporations employees vote to go Union are the company accepts the employees are going Union or the doors get closed.
What a great bargining table that is, for a for profit company

If your Amazon delivery guy truly was unhappy, he would find new employment.

    Good day.
    Hahahah…and there he goes.

Don’t be sad I called you out for trying to twist what I was saying so you could attempt to make it look like I was saying something I wasn’t to gain support for ‘your side’ of the argument.

Cute attempt, but it won’t work for me.

    Good day to you, sir!

They negotiate a contract. I don't think that's to hard to understand.

I'm just saying there are US made products there, and they do a decent job of advertising the stuff that is made in the US. That's more effort than what a lot of other stores put in.
