Don't get me wrong, I love my silver stack and will continue to add to it.

My observation was more, we keep hearing silver is gonna "take off" but it never seems to take off any higher than the first Wright brothers flight. Doesn't make silver bad, just means many people preaching it are a bit optimistic.

Then when it does take off, they'll say "told ya so!" like they had some great foresight into markets.

    Ag on, my brothers! :D
Sir; respectfully, silver and gold doesn’t ever take off. The daily market line may go up and down. But the metal itself is a storage of this days dollar. It is a long term hold. As I’ve said I started buying when prices were X that is the value of a FRN at that time.

Also the market as traded is all in paper contracts, nobody sells 1,000,000 oz’s of gold, or silver in a day. If you look at the daily trades, the market buys and sells more metals than exists in public and private hands. Each day.

Today, I still hold the same amount of FRN’s I held at the time I bought my first Oz. FRN:OZ ratio

Metal, is a long term storage of wealth, not an investment/ growth tool.

If you want gains on “investment “ dollars there are many better options out there. If you want to keep what you have. Gold n silver n today copper n land are your best bets.

Not a financial advisor, just some old guy that looks outside every day.. Again, respectfully.

I agree 100% with your astute assessment.

Metals are more like a "savings" account (meant to preserve wealth, as you described) than a stock or other investment meant to (potentially) take $X of value into the $X+stratosphere level.

The OP asked "Is silver next?" Inferring (at least to me) that silver might "take off", which like you, I don't believe it is meant to or will do.

Stack in peace, my friend! Let's hope we or our children never need to leverage it to keep the lights on!

So I was closing registers at work tonight ( I’m the store manager of a big box retail store) and found a couple 90% quarters. Happens more often than most would think. I always keep some cash on me to buy cool stuff off the registers vs depositing it.

I got a 90% proof state quarter back as change from a vending machine at work, one night.
Being mindful of silver content, I always give my coins a glance. That proof quarter caught my eye because it was more shiny than most. Googled it when I got home and put it away.
Using actual money in vending machines finally paid off.

    This is great!

I always look at my change and scan through it for hidden value. :D

I have also tried going to the bank and getting rolls of silver dollars or 50 cent pieces "for the kids coin collection" but that has not really worked, other than...starting a coin collection. :):

Coin fishing worked well for many years after Ag was pulled but not much now. A few years ago I was in my bank when a customer wheeled in over $450 in rolled halves. I took a gamble and bought them all from the bank, figuring if rolled by a customer then there was a chance. Nope, not a single silver piece.
That customer was probably cashing in the halves that weren’t silver from hunting themselves :)

Can't believe Kitco is still down. Well, not totally down but not back to normal yet. Not much info out there about it, but I am seeing that customer information was not compromised.

Looks to me, and I could mistaken, that it is giving faster changes in the market as of 9:41 pm Tue. night. Looks as if it is changing every couple seconds….. But I don’t know what the lag time is. :dunno:

I’m also keeping in mind these are paper contracts not physical metal.

What do you guys think of the silver Krugerrands? @snorko do you have any experience with them?
Sovereign silver coins are #1 to me in terms of stacking. IMHO, tier 1 are Eagles & Maple Leafs, tier 2 include Britannias, Philharmonics and Krugerrands. Tier 3 would be Other such as Somali coins, Bank of the Carribean, etc.

I like the Krugerrands a lot but their premiums are high compared to how I think they rank. They are sometimes more expensive than Maples and almost always more than the other tier 2 coins.

I generally price compare within the tiers and buy the cheapest. I have a few Krugs but far mor Phills. I like the Austrian coin and it is well known.
