AK's are "cheap" or "junk" compared to AR's

It's a moot argument, I have owned both AR's and AK's the design of each originated as the choice battle rifle for two countries and that is where the similarities ended. The AK wasn't even designed by an engineer, yep go look that one up. and he died pretty much a pauper, what he did do was...

Finishing an 80% Lower part 2

Ok all, lets get into the the trigger area of the build. Both pillow blocks are used in this process, for those with a jig your jig is at heart a set of pillow blocks with some holes and plates with holes that mount to the top of the blocks. Once sandwiched in the blocks I use 2- 1/4" bolts and...

Finishing an 80% Lower part 1

It is a grizzly mini mill, they don't come with DRO's but they can be added without to much trouble. It does a good job just takes a bit longer but with patience it is quite capable.

Finishing an 80% Lower part 1

I kind of promised to do this a while back....will need to do a few sections to do it justice and add enough detail to be truly helpful. I will try to cover squaring up, trigger and hammer holes, safety selector hole tonight. Maybe more depending on time. Whether you have a JIG and a drill...

If you have no machining experience you may wish to find some help, this is not real hard but need to know some of the basics like how to square...

      Copper plated vs. jacketed

I'd go with the suggestion to load them as un-plated, look closer at their websites and they will tell you to do so.

      Free ammo!!

Best I've done recently was a .50 cal ammo can that has been sitting in the closet corner un-opened for several years. The wife asked me what was in it and I had to reply that I didn't really know. pulled it, opened it and found 450rds of .22lr, 20 round colt ar Mag, 2 30rd colt ar Mag, 2 boxes...

      5.56 brass into a 223 bolt gun

The volume of military spec 5.56 being less than commercial .223 is not so much the case. This is far more true on .308 but not really on .223/5.56 this is mostly going to be on what company made the case and even down to what year the case was made. there are factory .223 with less volume than...

      H38 for 9mm 147gr

the 2012 Winchester reloading manual stops listing that powder at 125gr projectiles it also stops on 231 at the same. I would likely just go get listed powder and save what you have for 115 and 125 loads. of course thats just me I'm sure it will still go bang hopefully not in a bad way:dunno:
