ATF preparing to regulate private gun sales with background check, whistleblower says.

Gonzales v. Raich. It doesn't have to be interstate or even commerce for the feds to regulate it as interstate commerce.

GOP Compromise Unintentionally Creates Universal Firearm Background Checks

So the ATF currently says you have to transfer a certain number of guns in a year in order to be considered "in the business" and thus to hold an FFL. It would be hilariously ironic if this meant now that "certain number" is just 1 and almost anyone can hold an FFL and start having guns...

What he means is none of those actually embarrassed him because he doesn't actually think any of it was wrong.

Court Rules Bump Stocks Are Not Machine Guns

The NFA includes such parts in their definition of a machine gun, ("any part designed and intended solely and exclusively, or combination of parts designed and intended, for use in converting a weapon into a machinegun") however a firearm with a bump stock doesn't meet the definition of a...

Illinois High Capacity Mag & Firearm Ban

Gun Grabbers: "We have to do SOMETHING!" 2A Supporters: "Ok, lets increase mental health care, remove the stigma from seeking help, and stop deterring people from seeking help by no longer denying their civil rights" Gun Grabbers: "Why do you keep ignoring the problem, we have to DO SOMETHING!"

      IL magazine ban?

Even the ones around Chicago aren't that bad, no worse than Lake County here (although I'm sure there are those would give Lake County to IL lol) it's really just Cook itself that's terrible.

Illinois High Capacity Mag & Firearm Ban

Not necessarily, IIRC the Devore case(s) are challenging based on the procedure the assembly used to pass the law, and another case is challenging based on IL's equal protection clause. If one loses the IL Supreme Court could still hear the other one on its merits. I'm not sure if different...

      Why is National Debt Bad?

National debt, in and of itself, is not bad. The same way debt in your personal finances isn't necessarily bad. What's bad is when your debt grows faster than your income, that's unsustainable because eventually your required payments will exceed your ability to pay them. Debt that grows at...

You just can't unlearn stupid. New York introduces the dumbest gun law yet...

I recently learned that only disposable lighters are required to be childproof. Refillable lighters do not. Disposables are also required to turn off when you release whatever mechanism you used to turn it on. I suspect lobbying by Zippo for both of those things.

The Insane "Social Justice" Thread pt IV

I would argue at that point we are applying the metaphor a bit too literally, but I understand your point. Under capitalism our 3 characters would be in the stands with everyone else. There is yet another one labeled "liberation" or sometime "justice" where there is no fence, IMO that...

There's also another version I like Note that while some may have more than others, everyone has more than than they need.

New BATF ruling on stabilizing braces today

We are within a grace period, you can keep playing with your brace until (I believe) May 1, then you either need to either take it off or have applied for your stamp. The rule is vague how it applies to people who buy a brace during the grace period (its almost as if the ATF failed to consider...
