I've found Magpul stuff to be pretty much the same everywhere I go., I do purchase from my well stocked LGS more than go online, I may pay a little more but being a friendly face and a regular may be more beneficial for later purchases from the same shop.
The right to wear dog tags? (eye roll) the right to have a hunk of metal rubbing on your chest and a crappy chain digging around? I do like the metal wallet card idea a lot though. if you do go the dog tag route you should lace one into your shoe laces, or is that overkill?
I carry Remington 125 +p SJHP Wal-mart specials as well. In a 38 Snub nose I'm not expecting Thor's hammer. I comfortable enough with them to know where they're going and the job will still get done. Buy 'em cheap, stack 'em deep and practice plenty.

Home defense long guns all wear lights. I've never been a laser fan, I find no use in the "intimidation" theory of lasers and at bad breath distances I'll stick with point shooting techniques. lasers do have a usefulness in dry fire training and quick and dirty BZO use. Just my 2 pence.
