I have a 3" six shot SP101 in .327 Federal (also shoots .32 S&W, and .32 H&R) like new in box with manual and fired case. you can send me a PM if you're interested.
I like the .357 Max for a youth deer rifle. Lighter bullets at higher velocities offer very manageable recoil with good accuracy and effective performance. My good friend chambered a contender carbine in .357 Max for his then 13 year old daughter. She's taken a buck with it every year for the...
We've built a few. If you have questions or would like some advice we visit Bare Arms every other Saturday from 9-11 AM. Our next visit is tomorrow morning.
I would like to add that the customer service and support is worth paying a little extra. I've been burnt more often than not trying to save a few bucks.
The buckshot manual from BPI is an invaluable resource for large shot load recipes and tips. I highly recommend it. BPI is also an excellent source for hard to find shotshell components.
Another nice feature of the 10/22 is the availability if carbon fiber barrels. I set one of these up for my, 7 year old, daughter. The reduced weight of the carbon fiber barrel really works well for her.
Actually the .224 bullet would be far superior to the .221 bullets used in the .22 LR if using a centerfire barrel because the .223/5.56 use .224 bullets. Our first design concept for this is an upper conversion similar to the CMMG coversion for .22 LR.
As far as I know no one makes this conversion. However, this has been a topic of discussion around our shop. We would consider designing a .22 WMR conversion, if there was significant interest.
I also chose the Rossi two barrel youth model for my children, in .22 LR and .410. It has worked well for teaching both of my kids to shoot. My son is now nine and has moved on to other firearms but still shoots the Rossi very comfortably. My daughter is about to turn seven and handles the...
I've used many Shaw barrels in "budget builds". They have all been more than acceptable as far accuracy is concerned. The best was a 1:8 twist 20" bull that would shoot .250" groups a 100 yards, it was the exception. I would say .750" groups would be average for the Shaw stainless bulls, however...
Down by the tracks can help you with that. I'll be in the shop Saturday morning if you would like to discuss some options or get an estimate. We do gun bluing and Cera-kote. My normal hours at the shop are 4:00-6:00PM on Friday, however, this week I'll be in Saturday from 10:00-12:00, instead...

We've built a few of these. I like the 70 WSSM action for this application, and I hunt with one identical to the one in the link. That said any rifle chambered in a WSSM or WSM cartrige will serve...
