My EDC is a Shied in 40, and I have shot the XDs 45 that belongs to a guy I work with many times. IMHO I would keep the Shield. The XDs is way too small a gun to be chambered in 45.
I have a Shield in .40 as my EDC. the recoil is a bit much, but it is still a straight shooter. I think if I had to do it over, I would have gotten the 9mm, but all in all I'm happy with it I have no problem depending on it to defend my life, and the lives of my family and loved ones.
