I've not had the pleasure of owning a piece of his work or meeting the man, but I'm saddened by the loss of this great maker.
I am currently working with Marty Young on a custom knife, and it's enough knowing that Marty learned from Kit and that his influence lives on.
I was able to pick up this beautiful Insight flipper from Dustin this past week. It's one of only 4 in this configuration, I believe.
Beadblast and satin Ti frame, stonewashed S35VN blade. It's a cool combination of finishes.
OD green G10 backspacer in what has come to be his signature style of...
Haha, now THAT would be incredible. I may just send him an email about trying an auto...
Thanks for all the nice comments on Pohan's work, this one keeps getting smoother to flip everyday I carry it.
Just received this one today from the master, Mr. Pohan Leu, and I absolutely love the way it turned out. It's my 2nd bluephin, and probably not my last.
This time I opted for a full Ti handle, CTS-204P blade (by special request), 3.5" flipper.
I talked to him for a while about how I wanted this...
There were 2 people working at the time. I watched the woman go into a file cabinet behind the register to look up his file only to come up empty.
The guy I talked to said they weren't sure why he packed up because at least once a week someone was in buying one or more knives.
It really was...
I was hoping someone may be able to help me locate a (possibly) local knife maker.
In Shelbyville, there is an antique mall/flea market called Nostalgia on 9. I had stopped in a couple of times while making delivery runs in the area and always liked looking at the knives in a certain case. They...
I used to tell myself that $100 was my limit...that quickly hit $500...then it kept going up and up to over $1k.
I'm just going to say that there is no limit. As long as I can afford it at the time, it will be mine :)
Glad I could be of help to someone. :yesway:
This will be my first time going. I usually can't get the time off of work because it's our busiest time of the year.
There are a handful of bands I'm excited to see, the rest is whatever. I'm really just going to get a nice 4 day weekend away and...
After a bad experience with the knife maker Will Moon and with one of his knives, I was able to get all of my money back and decided to put that money towards a knife of true quality and something that I would be proud to carry.
That knife ended up being a Q-36 from RJ Martin. I'll let the...
I dunno, I guess I find myself saying... Hi, my name is _______, it has been ____ days since my last score and I feel miserable!!!!! MUST...BUY...MORE...KNIVES!!!!
Well, I ended up with a chance to get on Dustin Turpin's list, and am fortunate that I was among the 25 lucky ones.
So a Turpin is now on my 2014 list of knives :D
I'm using a Pelican 1495. It's about the size of a briefcase and I store the knives horizontal like you do with yours.
Assuming all the folders are roughly the same length and thickness, I could probably get 30 in there. More if there are small ones
The most I've ever had in the case at once was 23.
I had an HTM Gunhammer, it was an exclusive run done for BladeForums. Green anodized aluminum handle, S90V blade were the unique features for that run.
Mine was an unassisted "torpedo" blade flipper using the Maxx Glide bearings that HTM uses, super smooth opening. Never a half flip, always...
