Pin and weld is the best way for permanent attachment. I had my gunsmith installed it for me for $100. Or you can get the SB brace, and you won't have to pin and weld.
Does PTR heat treat their receivers after folding them? HK does, for their HK91s. Also is the barrel buttoned rifled or hammer forged? I know neither does chrome lining on the bore due to the fine groves in the chamber.
I have the same feeling... For a while I was carrying a snubnose 357 magnum, and I can't shoot worth a damn with that revolver due to the painful recoil... Now I carry a HK45ct.
I prefer stock trigger, it is much safer that way... I tried to holster my glock 17 one time and my shirt got caught on the holster, and it was dragging on the trigger; luckily it didn't go off because it is a stock trigger and has not been lightened...
