I found out about something ptg used to make called the uni guage. It was apparently a ball on a threaded stem that couldve used to measure headspace in nearly any caliber. Took a llittle math skill but would be very neat to use. It doesnt dumny proof like the go n/no go but it actually...
I AM NOT asking about go and no go guages. I am curious if there is a acceptable and repeatable way to actually measure headspace. I had read something about using tool balls to measure on another forum guy thought ge waa remembering something from hatchers notebook. Any id be veey...
The 788 has rear lug's 9 of them. Brownells sells 788 wrench for $135 which is steep for a one off project. Thanks on the barrel vise offer! if i cant make my idea on that work I'll hit you up.
Im gonna rebarrel a rem 788 and am thinking of making my own action wrench by boring out a piece of 2'' stock ive got on hand to a snug fit around the reciever. then drill and tap 2 holes in side of it and cut a slit in it to clamp down with. Think of a scope ring but solid on one side. drill a...
Do i need to put a plug or screw into these holes for strength? They are fairly deep and closer to the chamber than i would have put them, but i figure Big Green knows what they're doing. But with the sight removed I've changed the equation minutely. So will these empty spots be weaker empty...
Thought about it some more and would a single taper have chance to crush the shoulder than several smaller ones? Say a cone vs a stepped transition? Just thinking out loud here?
Im trying to figure out which expander plug style would be the best to go from 224 to 6mm. I plan on making what i need on the lathe but is the Lyman m style tge best. Or the good ole tapered plug? Or should i just put a steady long taper on a pin? Any advice is appreciated
Cheap online trusts??
I am considering one of these $100 online trusts solely so i can efile and get through the line faster. Are they worth the 100 bucks?? Form 1 is intended route
I only keep fish on the smaller end usuall. My logic is that there can be new 6_8 inchers next spring cant grow a foot long crappie in a year however cleaning 5hem does suck but if you think of tyem as livestock it makes sense to eat the easily replaceable. Ones
I have a manson reamer, my first and only so far. I sprang for the removable pilot. Well now i have 5 manson pilot bushings. Next up i need a gritters type indicating rod and ptg has them $3 cheaper than manson and ptg's bushings are slightly cheaper also i cant seem to find tgrough google...
Is there an all inclusive resource on how to make things feed from a magazine? I keep having these "ideas" on caliber conversions id like to do to things i own. I just have no idea if i could make them feed. Just wondering if there is a book that explains generally(all makes all model type) how...
Ive skimmed this post and even clicked a couple links. What is the jist of hb1231? Whats the part about 10mm? Is my hand cannon good to go this year? Thanks and sorry for the extra dumb question
Also please forgive the tangent on bore, the original question of is a stainless rimfire barrel strong enough too be rechambered in 17 hornet at a diameter of .700 is still out there for debate
I looked over on green mountains website and the barrel the y list as 17 hornady has same 169/173 bore groove as rest of 17 barrels. I wonder if hornady is using the swage to increase accuracy and velocity??????? I will try and figure out how to accurately slug my barrel and see what it is.
