      Safety or no safety?

      I'm a fan of both 1911 and Glocks. Good debate here and good article. Personally, I carry the Glocks for capacity, weight, and so I don't have to remember anything.

      Need some suggestions on budget EDC knives

      I carry a SOG Twitch 2, use the heck out of it. It's still good after a number of years and sharpening(s)... Probably $50 or so now. I like most of the blades mentioned already too. Best wishes!

      Carrying while golfing??

      Ditto - I keep my truck pistol in my bag. Never felt concerned on the course, but never know. I also like the idea of a .22 for squirrels.

      Springfield XDM 9 3.8 compact or a Glock?

      I agree with those that recommend Glock 19, it's the perfect one gun. Can carry, fix a light to it for home, and can take larger mags if needed. Grab a used one, holster, light, and ammo for your budget. Best wishes.
