      What was the first gun you ever shot?

      My first was an Ayers 20 gauge bolt action shotgun. It was my father's gun that my grandfather bought for him. I now own it and am in the process of restoring it so that I can pass it on to my son one day.

      If you want to stay in Fort Wayne, you could always go to the Lindenwood Nature Preserve. It's right around the corner from St. Francis University and has some really nice trails for hiking.

      Outdoor Two Way Radios

      If you want to use a radio (rather than a cell phone), you should really look into ham radio. I have a ham radio license and my handheld transceiver (HT) runs on 5 watts and can cover almost all of Allen county. Plus with repeaters setup all over the world, I can always (99.9999% of the time)...

      I took some noobs shooting in my father-in-law's back yard. He lives in the country on 4 acres and has a shooting mound out there. So I was showing the noobs some gun safety pointers and thought I was doing a good job. We got done and I got a call from my father-in-law later that evening...

      You can also do a quick search (on Geocaching.com) for any event caches coming up in your area. They usually have them about once a month in Indy and it is a great place to meet other Geocachers. Plus, many times, groups will go out caching after the event, and there should be no problem if...

      How long does permission last?

      If you'd like the permission to last a little longer, then just have the land owners write a note stating that and have them sign and date it. I'm not sure that would hold up in any court, but it has to be better than a simple handshake on the matter.

      I also travel some for work so it gives me something to do if I happen to get some free time while on the road. Then after some hiking and Geocaching, I find a nice bar/restaurant to get some beer and a juicy steak!
