The following is a quote from a guy I talk to on a couple other forums from time to time. I think he is from WI somewhere.
Around here used 12 ga pump for under $100 are at every dealer. Normally $75 to $87.
Are there gun stores in Northern Indiana that some of you frequent, where it is common to see mechanically sound pump action shotguns for under $100?

Closest thing I know of are the Pardner Pumps that sell for sub $200, the used Mav 88s that can go as low as 140-160 depending.

I don't think I would trust a pump for 100 unless it was someone's unemployment special. My singleshots are under that! :D

He hasn't bought a gun in a while, then. I spend two weeks in northern WI every year and check out a half dozen gun shops for special finds. Closest i've ever seen to that was a JC Higgins 12ga pump for $150. Anything remington or winchester was $250+ and mossy's went for $200.

If you lived in an area where $100 pumps were common, it shouldn't be a problem.

The Mav 88s are a heck of a deal. They can be found for under $200 new.

I just checked and I was mistaken about him living in WI. He lives in SE Minnesota.

That is just not the case pretty much anywhere. Under a $100 for a used pump...come on, there aint no way unless it is a uber turd!

So you think my buddy is shining me on?

I have several Ithaca Model 37 pumps, 12 and 20 guage, and never pay more than $200, have bought them with a cracked stock for $125-$145. I bought a Remington Model 11 (picture a Browning A5) with an after-market stock, didn't fit well, and the friction rings were installed incorrectly, making it a single shot, I bought it for $100.

It can happen. If you really believed him, you wouldn't have asked us though! :D

I listed a mechanically sounds Mossberg 500 with a chopped barrel on INGO for $100. Darn thing looked like butt. Had five PMs in the first 10 minutes. People were willing to buy it for the parts. Leads me to believe that there are not a lot of sub $100 pump guns running around.

    Is that legal?

It is for me, I have a FFL/SOT. Shotguns can be had at $100 or a little over like posted above, but usually not at a gun store. They will most likely give you 70% max worth value, and that's pushing it so that mean they gave the guy that traded it in like $40-60 for it to be under $100.
