I am considering buying a 1911 soon. I have never owned or shot 1, but I have handled a few. Price range is $600-$900. Looking for suggestions as well as reasons to or not to buy a 1911.

reason not to: they are addictive.

For $900, I would look into a Colt. You have the 70 Series, XSE and Rail Gun in that neighborhood. I would also consider a Springer Loaded.

If you go used and are patient, I have seen MC Operators and even TRPs for not much more than $900.

I have a remington 1911. I love it. All my gun nut friends who have shot it love it, and want one.

I got mine at the 1500 a few weeks ago. Can't say I'm familiar with an enhanced version. I believe mine is military spec.

good looking out, the description states rail...wonder what the deal is?

They probably just used a stock photo. Alot of online stores do that which is why I never buy online. A trip to your LGS is a better choice bc you can hold it and feel it and KNOW FOR SURE what your getting. Or go to Springfields website and print off the spec sheet with the SKU # for the one you want and have them order it for you if they dont have it in stock.

I own a Colt MKiv 80 enhanced, and a Remington 1911R1, that I have have several mod's done on. I have to say I really like the Remington the best.

i have a kimber that i recently picked up used for 850.00

only reason i could not suggest is like the second post said....THEY ARE ADDICTIVE!!!
thats the best reason to get one as well....i bought one cause the customization never ends on these guns....you can only go so far with a polymer gun....
dont look back.....you will love your 1911 whatever model you buy
just research makers before buying.....but your price range will get you something nice for sure
