Ruger SR1911 since no one has thrown it out there yet. It was the first 1911 i bought and i love it.

It's gonna be pretty tough for him to get his hands on one if he wants to fondle it first. Where'd you get yours? It's next on my list.

I have a Colt XSE -- Blued -- Great Gun but hard to find.

Right now I would look for a Springfield Armory Range Officer -- I think they for for about $700 -- Has alot of great features and SA is good to deal with.

Have money left over for ammo and assessories.

No reason not to other than lack of funds.. As I tell anyone that asks, for the money I like the Gen I Kimbers.

I have a metro arms american classic II. 350 rounds, and the only issue was magazine related. Switching to Wilson 47d's and it has been flawless for the past 200.

Even mixed a mag of my carry ammo and mixed ball, and it fed flawlessly.

I got the same stuff, for about half the cost :)

I have a Taurus 1911-BHW in 45ACP and its a fantastic piece at 588.00. My second choice is Rugers new SR1911 if you can find one (599.00 to 739.00). Otherwise I would get a SIG 226 in 40 caliber around 829.00.
