1911 Caliber Preference

All of my 5" guns are 45 acp of course, I do have a commander sized model though in 9mm. They all shoot great, and I do love 45acp.

That is true, but just because you can get a camaro or mustang in a V6 doesn't mean you should.

when you see what full power 10mm does to a bowling pin or reactive steel, then you will understand, young padawan.

If you're interested in shooting Steel Challenge or Friday Night Steel, a 1911 in 9mm is fairly common. It's dreamy to shoot (only about 2x the recoil of a 22) and can be made reliable and accurate. Magazines are important; the wrong ones can make the gun not run, so keep that in mind if you look at one. Several friends have purchased an STI Sentry for competition in 9mm, and have nothing to say but compliments about their pistols. I run a STI 2011 in 9mm for shooting steel, and love it.
