I know it all depends on style of clothing and preference of type of holster but what do you guys think the most comfortable way if there is one, to carry a full-sized 1911

Comfortable - For me it would be a strong-side hip holster with 1 or 2 inches of drop below the beltline (I have a gut and long arms).

Concealed and Comfortable? - No idea unless you have a briefcase handy.

Having been used to carrying a P228 IWB, I'm still quite amazed that a 3-4 o'clock IWB carry of my Government model is every bit as comfortable. Don't discount just how thin they are...

To paraphrase Clint Smith, it is not meant to be comforting; it is meant to be comforting.:D

Uncle Kirk's Five Easy Steps to Holster Selection

Step One: Get a cardboard box.

Step Two: Ask buddies to borrow their holsters.

    Step Three: Buy first holster.

Step Four: Put holster in cardboard box.

Step Five: Buy new holster and repeat.

I use the Milt Sparks Executive Companion in horsehide in black to enhance the tacticality of the arrangement.

Remember, buy a quality holster AND a quality belt. Don't forget the mag carrier.

I'm in and out of the car a lot and like to wear sport coats so a shoulder holster gets the nod during the cooler months. Guess I need to look at my summer options some more.

I carry either my government or officer size in an IWB I made for myself at the 4 o'clock probably 95% of the time. The rest of the time its in a shoulder rig.
My IWB holster keeps it concealed with a loose t-shirt or polo shirt.
The shoulder holster is nice too, but requires a jacket or a looser Hawaiian shirt to conceal.

I carry my 5" D&L Sports Caspian in a Wilson Combat "Tactical Assault" open top OWB holster.

I carry my D&L Sports Officer's Model in a Galco "Avenger" OWB open top holster.

The "fun" part of holster buying is the shopping...
