    My Taurus 1911 starts to fail to eject and jam when dirty. Get a heavy frame 1911 and if there is an ammo shortage you can use it as a club.

    it usually take 4000 or so rounds before my springfield starts "acting up"

    there are those days when i'd be better off throwing it than shooting it

    IMO Glocks are for carry (and range to keep up on skills), 1911 in .45 is for range and home defense.

    If you don't like the way a Glock angles and points, then don't get a Glock. It's just a thing. Personally, I like Glocks. I have a hard time shooting some other plastic guns that just point "weird" (to me). My husband likes them and also isn't a big Glock fan, but can shoot my Glocks. Just get what you like.

    But for the range...my goodness, just try a 1911 in .45. Out of the whole handgun stable there is nothing I like shooting more than the 1911 in .45.
