Just grips and put a magwell. Its a UTC carry I think ive posted it before in plain jane form. The regular grips are super thin. Not good for my XXL hands.
Did you fit the magwell in yourself or hire it out? I have read that they can be a challenge on LBs.

You'll hear it both ways - as with many things, it's a matter of personal taste, honestly. I own 90+ 1911's. 10-12 are Kimbers. One is a SA.

Are you on Texas Gun Talk....sister site to us.

    Early Kimbers I like.

Newer ones are not up to the price point IMHO.

I have also had a few issues with SA of late. Pick your poison.

I'll agree to an extent - especially all their fancy finishes - none of which are holding up. I've got a number of their early guns, includin' a Clackamas that several have tried to sweet-talk me out of....lol Then again, it's VERY rare for me to buy ANY gun new.

    i have 19....

Just keep on keepin' on......buy 'em when you have the extra coin - the pile can grow pretty quick, believe me! Had less than a dozen 18 years ago - amazin' how the gun budget grows when the kids are grown and gone!

Main thing is - I've got 'em across a wide spectrum of manufacturers - from the 10 varous models of the old SS Randall's, to RIA & Norinco, Baer to Ed Brown. Each has their niche, and damned few are ALL junkers. My EDC? A STI Elektra - now no longer in production, which is a crying shame in my book. Bought three of 'em (two for me, one for spouse) just before they got so popular - and IMO, it's a solid, reliable weapon.

Yup I have. I have posted up some of my recent builds there as well.
