    Where's the bacon?
**SIGH** Come on SB 506 and SB92!!! SB154 and 434 are baby baby steps.
BoR do you know what the vote roll call was for SB154?
I never heard back from my REP suspect he was a NAY on all of these.

SB 434 passed also. I'm on the iPod right now, Jedi, so no, I don't know the roll call on either one. When I get home tonight, I'll check and post it.

SB 94 and 506 are next to come to Second Reading. SB 292 needs to clear the committee first.

    From Jim, :yesway:

With all that I'm still taking it from all those who want to rewrite my two gun bills, SB 506 ( transport bill) and SB 292 (pre-emption). As you know those bills got through the Senate and SB 506 made it out of committee in the House, but I've got folks that have been dogging me all week to change the language.

However, this week I managed to bring on board with me a fantastic gentleman who knows Indiana gun laws in and out all across the state. His name is Bryan Ciyou (pronounced Ki you) and he is the author of "Indiana Firearms Law Reference Manual". I contacted him to get his book. Not only did he give me a copy but he included a note that if he could ever help me to give him a call. So I did.

Wednesday he paid me a visit and has agreed to help me, and he has. He is now assisting me in interpretation of language of proposed amendments by those who oppose my bills. Bryan is a lawyer and extremely well spoken and is also willing to testify on behalf of SB 292.

SB 292 may be up for a committee hearing this week and hopefully SB 506 will heard on the House floor. Your phone calls to House members 1-800-382-9842 to support these bills would be appreciated. We may never get this close again on a pre-emption bill in this current form.

    Thanks,

    Jim

I just noticed that SB 94 and SB 506 are both on the House calendar Monday for Second Reading. This and two more steps will make it law.

Hmmm. He seems so busy with the 2nd Amendment Patriots, being a state senator, etc that I just assumed he was pretty important! I'll try to be less respectful and ask for personal phone updates every day.

Correct. I spoke with Jim the other day when I was in Indy on another matter and he confirmed to me that he occasionally (when he has time; he barely has time to answer his emails, he said!) checks and reads INGO. He does not have a member name here, however.

mrotega, the member 4sarge is NOT JIM. 4sarge is just a regualr "gun nut" like the rest of us that passes emails that JIM sends him.

I know 4sarge and trust me he is not JIM. :D

    Where's the bacon?
Mrsmitty asked in another thread what SB 292 was really about. I had the thought the other day that we haven't really covered that on any of these, so...

SB 94 removes the prohibition requiring that IN citizens can purchase long guns only in IN or contiguous states (OH, KY, MI, and IL) and that citizens of other states besides those can purchase here.
SB 154 removes the prohibition on carrying a loaded firearm on an ATV or snowmobile.

SB 292 removes the ability of localities to enact ordinances more strict than state law on the ownership or carry of firearms. It makes a few other specifications, but no, it does not allow people to shoot anywhere and everywhere.

SB 411 adds to last year's parking lot bill to prevent businesses from hiring only non-gun owners.

SB 434 allows those who obtain a state license to sell handguns to do so every six years rather than every two.

SB 506 removes the requirement that one must have a LTCH to lawfully transport a handgun to a range. It does not allow for Constitutional Carry, as some seem to be insinuating.

SB 94 and SB 506 are both scheduled for Second Reading tomorrow. SB 292 still needs to be heard in committee. The other three just need the Governor's signature to become law.

I'm sorry this is not more detailed. I wrote it on the iPod, so am working from memory.

    Hope that helps!

    Blessings,
    Bill

SB 94 was just ordered to engrossment by consent. SB 506 among others will not be heard until tomorrow due to the large number of amendments filed today.

"ordered to engrossment" meaning the HOUSE is done with it (no more amendments, no more readings) they like it and will vote on it next? :dunno:
