Thanks Matt, you got me thinking so I checked CCI’s website and found this info. 36gr mini mags by a little.

That only goes out to 100. The 36g is losing energy faster than the 40g.
Plus, in my rifles, the SV is more accurate.

    Matt

That was my thought as well along with, I would pick the one I could hit the target with at 200 yards. What size target are we talking here?

About 10” I think...near cub profile I believe. I hit and knocked 3of10 last year with the mini mag 36’s but wondered about some low shots...seems I only knocked down on the higher shots.

Couldn’t find locally any of the CCI HV 40’s but found this:
Aguila 22LR Ammunition SuperExtra 1B222328 High Velocity 40 Grain Copper Plated Round Nose. 1255fps 40gr copper plated

Gonna run it side by side with Cci sv and mini mags and take which ever can group well at distance. I know it will group well with sv so we will see.

Cabelas in Noblesville has a large stock of Mini-Mag 40 gr. around $8 bucks

In my experience Aguila SV in pistols at 25 yard or Aguila HV in rifle at 50. Neither will group well beyond that.

    .
As a general statement of truth: High velocity .22 LR will not do what you want it to do at long range.
