If I need a rifle for a fight I want to be shooting a rifle round. Not 9mm.

Useless as a fighting rifle? What type of fighting do you do?

My way of thinking suggests a 9mm out of a carbine might be a decent start to self defense. I am a little biased because I have a 10" barreled AR with a 9mm suppressor on the end. It will definitely deter a bad guy without blowing my eardrums out if fired inside my home.

I have a 5" barreled 9mm AR that is also suppressed, it is a range toy, nothing more.

My HD gun is a suppressed 10.5" barreled AR.

That being said, would I feel "under gunned" using my 9mm for HD, no, but I have a better tool for the job.

Not really if you just want to complain about a pistol cartridge in a rifle.

But, since this is a public forum, you're free to complain all you want. I just don't get it.
