I don't see that anything Profire did was wrong. Could they have been done better? I would think so, but hindsight is 20/20. I will reserve judgment until I have more facts. I will continue to support Profire until such a revelation warrants my reevaluation of the status quo.

Since you can't "see that anythin Profire did was wrong," do you support them continuing to do it?

I have no doubt they sold them to a guy who "hangs down by __________" who goes by the handle of "insert gang nickname here" who has a cousin over in Cincy/Columbus/Cleveland/Chicago who needs some heavies...

Yes, but with a reevaluation of their OPSEC. But who's to say that having an armed guard or whatever would prevent anything? Locks keep honest people honest. If a thief wants something bad enough, locks/walls/safes will only slow them down.

You obviously have never dealt with self-styled "core buyers", who seldom go by their given name and generally don't know nuthin about anything. IME, the vast majority of trailer thieves are white, with a narcotic or meth addiction. They also generally have a construction or mechanical background, why is how they got onto how easy it is in the first place. Nothing in my post related to any stereotype, other than that of common thieves with substance problems, and the people who buy from them...

Been in Profire a couple of times, after dropping off some airplane stuff to a firm near the airport. Seemed like good guys.

However, parking a trailer outside with class 3 stuff, unattended, was a bone head thing to do. I'm sure they did it so that they would not have to get up early to load it, but that time saving ideal, backfired.

It's going to be a rough ride for the Profire guys, and long one at that, until it get's better.

Next time, get up early and load the trailer.

I'm not so sure there is a next time, I could certainly see BATFE pulling their SOT3 for this. Two thefts of Title II devices, both left in vehicles overnight, with this one causing a helluva public splash. No one is ever in perfect compliance and I could easily see an example being made.

By all accounts, Andrew is a helluva nice guy, the amount of people backing him here makes that clear. That said, with this number of machine guns and cans going out onto the street, with the probably well into 6 figures of LE costs to the taxpayers, and God forbid the possibility someone actually hurts someone with one of these, I don't see the BAT boys continuing to mess around with it.

I had the very same thought. I would imagine that they are not going to be very forgiving to Profire.

It's a shame, they should have known better than to load up a trailer and leave it over night. Now it very well could cost them everything.

6 figures of LE costs huh? All the guys working the case are probably salary, and would have to be working anyways.... Could you please site your sources for where you speculate this investigation is going to cost 6 figures?

You seem to have an agenda you are pushing here. I don't see anything that he did against regulations local state or federal, nor anything criminal. Why are you calling for his license to be revoked again?

My speculation is based of what other, much smaller investigations, are reported to have cost. This one involved local/state/fed + probable forensics. The bill ain't going to be little.

I didn't call for his license to be revoked, I said that I thought it likely that the BATFE would and why. Please quote for me where I called for it to happen, otherwise stop putting words in my mouth.

I have no agenda other than that I really don't like people leaving machineguns out for the methheads to scoop up. I am really surprised by the number of people around here who really don't appear to give a **** about that.

So you have proof that drones were used for THIS investigation? IMPD doesn't even have helo's anymore. Federal agents travel, its what they do, and what they would be doing regardless, if not here then somewhere else. Meals, same thing. Not sure what the ect. ect's are, but I speculate they would be incurred costs regardless of this event.

You do realize that other things didn't get investigated, etc because of this, right? When one case slurps up a huge quantity of resources, other things don't get those resources. That is why LE costs can be imposed against criminals as part of restitution regardless of if they were salary or overtime.

You seem awful cavalier with police resources and tax dollars here.

Once again, where did I call for his FFL to be revoked?
