Magpul Dynamics graciously donated 100 20 round Pmags to a friend of ours deploying soon. He is a Designated Marksman with the USMC and he and his boys will certainly get use out of these! HUGE props to Magpul!

    Evan,

It is roughly a 2.5 hour drive from my house. Overall it would take 5 hours from Indy. If are really wanting to go we can make arraignments to stay up here the night before.

I have been wanting to go up there all summer and just have not been able to make. Right now November would be the first chance I would get.

What's with all the coaching from the peanut gallery and the RO calling out hits?

Calling the shooter's hits on long-range reactionary targets is common in ACTS, USPSA and IMGA matches. Coaching the shooter is only a no-no in USPSA (It may be in IDPA, as well but I'm not that familiar with the rule book).

What's with all the coaching from the peanut gallery and the RO calling out hits?

ACTS is a (growing) group of friends who get out once a month to practice their skills. They employ as few rules as possible to keep it safe and operational. It is not nearly as stuffy as most other shooting venues out there.

We don't argue scores, we don't spend time walking stages, we don't mark the ground with the location that gives us the best view of available targets. We listen to the course description, take a peak downrange, load up and listen for a beep. Afterward we eat and hang out like good friends do.

Once a year we put on a prize match that is much more official than the monthly matches. But at the monthly matches, most guys are out here shooting against themselves, just trying to improve on something they do.

EDIT- LOL, I see Steve was typing when I was. Same message, different way of communication. :)

Don't get so defensive about your game, I was just asking about an observation that struck me as odd.

Why so harsh and negative about other games? Did you get a mudhole stomped in you at someone else's match once upon a time?

I don't know if this was directed at me or not, but I'll respond.

No, actually I've won my division at many other local matches. I dislike the atmosphere of the other places. Maybe I'm anti social, maybe the other games attract a-holes. Dunno which one it is.

Your response is typical of the attitude at the other places. It's all about score, nothing else matters. No thanks. I'd rather hang with friends and enjoy myself than game every stage to shave milliseconds off my time.

I spent a solid two years at another place and didn't so much as learn the first names of the vast majority of the 'regulars.' They showed up, shot the stage, whined about their scores, and went home and talked crap about it online. That isn't what I'm looking for.

Yeap sure have and also won my fair share i shoot for me for defensive reasons and to challenge myself by using lesser gear or practical gear like shooting uspsa from concealment or duty gear.
My game as you call it is a game but also more practical than many others we have rules that make idpa and uspsa and 3 gun clubs cringe..

we have fun and help out each other even during big money matches why beacuse we are friends and not score whores.
we dont have modifed baby buggies to carry our egos, and if that was your way of saying i lost yes i have lost games but have one won real life you decide

I can be harsh because iam harsh

Hmmm...a guy watches a video or two of what appear to be a game (I saw a timer. Anyway...) It appears to have a more practical slant to it than USPSA or IDPA. From a game perspective, I get it when the RO (or whatever RO refers to the guy the with timer) and support it. Now...

To provide a sport in which Civilian rifle owners along with Military and Law Enforcement professionals can practice 'real world' shooting skills in a sporting venue that has not been offered by any other shooting discipline or association.

Based on your own description, I don't think a question about calling hits or coaching the shooter is out of line. It was a question - not an indictment. Call me a thread lawyer if you want.
