There are new stories at the Chicago Trib about Alderman, but I have maxed out my monthly allotment.

Excerpts I read at Second City Cop indicate one of his fellow aldercritters (Solis)wore a wire for TWO YEARS to help the Feds build a case against Burke (which leads one to wonder what they had on the wire-wearing aldercritter).

Also quotes from various other aldercritters essentially condemning Solis for being a snitch. Undermines trust among the aldercreatures. I'll bet.

City Council Code of Silence: GOOD!

Chicago PD Code of Silence: BAD!

    Carry on.

That was my very first thought.

    And the answer is:

Bombshell filing details FBI's two-year probe of alleged corruption by Ald. Daniel Solis

I maxed out my monthly allotment again before I could open the affidavit mentioned in the article, but:
The document lays out in exhaustive detail a laundry list of alleged federal crimes the FBI had compiled against Solis by the time he was confronted and agreed to cooperate with the investigation.
In exchange for official action or promises, Solis solicited a “steady flow of personal benefits,” including Viagra pills and prostitution services from a political operative who represented a company seeking an exemption from the city’s water ordinance, the affidavit alleged.

The affidavit suggested that Caldero also offered prostitution services to Solis at a North Side massage parlor on several occasions.

“Let me tell you why I called,” Solis was quoted as saying in one call from July 2015. “I want to get a good massage, with a nice ending.”

When Caldero said he knew of a place and would make an appointment, Solis asked, “What kind of women do they got there?” the affidavit said.
    “Asian,” Caldero responded.

“Oh good! Good, good, good,” Solis said, according to a transcript. “I like Asian.”

Lack of term limits and too much campaign money floating around means we will never put more than a dent in this crap.

    *MICROPHONE DROP!*

    Dead accurate.
The 2016 election was a chance to fire 96% of congress with an average of 34 years as sitting members.
If you wanted real change, you missed it entirely while watching the dog & pony show between Trump & Hillary...
Classic distraction so you didn't watch hand that was robbing you blind...

    Local governments are different...

Well, well, well, laissez les bon temps rouler…

Report: Justice Anne Burke ruled on 10 Supreme Court cases involving clients of her indicted husband
WBEZ in an Oct. 8 report identified at least 10 instances in which Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke decided on cases involving parties who at the time were being represented as clients of her husband’s law firm. The firm, Klafter & Burke, is where her husband, Chicago 14th Ward Ald. Ed Burke, was until recently a partner. Ed Burke gave up his partnership after being charged with corruption in a 14-count federal indictment. Anne Burke is about to become the high court’s chief justice.

While WBEZ notes it is not certain that Justice Burke’s rulings on those cases were influenced by the parties’ relationship with Klafter & Burke, her decisions have spared many of her husband’s clients from “significant financial and legal risk.”
