Rules for Amish can vary widely by the community to which they belong. Not all of them are pacifists (by a long shot) and will do what is necessary to defend their families. In my experience, Mennonites are far more likely to be pacifist and unwilling to defend themselves. Some Mennonite communities have dress and behavioral customs virtually indistinguishable from Amish to outsiders.

I know a dealer who sold a bunch of Colt ARs and 1911s to a group of them back in the early 1990s in Illinois. I doubt if those were for hunting. Violent criminal actors would be ill advised to assume Amish won't defend themselves.

    There you are.
They know whats coming. They are arming to the teeth.

I have been going to the Napanee shows for a couple years now, and have seen many of the younger guys walking out with AR15's, shotguns rifles. There are a few with booths selling firearms, and ammo.

I do not know what their beliefs are on weapons, but from what I have seen up there, it must not be an issue.

I agree with the above statement.

They live off the land and the old ways for the most part, and I feel they will defend it if needed, and are ready to.

Some of the Amish I saw at one gun show in northern Indiana that were mostly FTF sales always had a wad of cash and left with many guns.

This is EXACTLY the opposite of the Mennonites in northern MN. They ALL have deer rifles and 12g pumps. They LOVE porn and drink secretly.

Back in 1988, I lived in Noble County. I worked in LaGrange County at a mobile home factory. Most of the employees were Amish. I was one of the few "English" that worked there. One day, one of my Amish co-workers asked if I would be interested in buying a stainless Colt Gold Cup. I asked him why he was selling it. He told me he didn't like it as well as his stainless Python! I still wish I would have had the $600 he was asking for the Gold Cup. If I remember correctly, he had an LTCH. I believe he also had a driver's license.

There are a few religious groups that don't believe in using guns to kill people for any reason but don't have a problem with hunting.....I knew a girl that use to be Amish....I don't want to be Amish after what she told me.

    You aren't going to share?

I'd say most Amish have guns for butchering, hunting and just plain sport. Many Amish now have picture ID, this is required for travel to Canada to visit relatives. Some Amish vote, usually by absentee ballet. Some Amish drive, if their job requires it.

I grew up among them, and still live among them.

they aren't supposed to have guns because they can take lives there same reason they don't drive.

No, the reason they don't drive is to preserve community. An automobile allows them to easily get away from their community. The horse forces them to stay closer.

Not true they use drivers to travel just like you or I would. If that was the case they would all live in the same area.
