This looks like a good hunting round. Possibly home defense as well.
I'd like to test the accuracy out of my AR-15 16" barrel.

I have used it on deer and it did the job well....bought several boxes when I found them on sale for $8.00 a box.

Accuracy is fair but nothing better than the steel cased Wolf I use.

It does not feed well through an AR due to the blunt nose and feed ramp design. It also doesn't help they are 1/4" shorter than a standard 7.62X39 also adding to the feeding problem.

I still use them in the AR pistol but have never needed more then one shot on deer.

As for home protection I would NEVER use them for that due to the obvious persistent feeding issues.

They "may" feed better in an AK because the feed ramp is an open ramp design unlike the split design of an AR.

I'm impressed with the Winchester Silvertip 22mag ammunition out if a revolver 3" barrel.
It actually meet the 12"-18" penetration test.

He's just confirming what many of us 10mm owners already know. The majority of factory made 10mm is just 40 Short & Weak loads in 10mm brass.

    Underwood
    Buffalo Bore
    Sig V Crown
    Federal Trophy Bonded Bear Claw

These are about the only full power factory made ammunition that gets closer to full power if not full power 10mm loads.

The Colonel was in contact with Norma when he helped design the 10mm, when Norma came out with their load it was hot and if you fired it in a light weight gun you would have problems. Aluminum frames didn't hold up well to repeated firing.

I'm very disappointed in Golden Sabre HP.

The old Remington flying ash trays (200 grain HP) where a good to go defensive rounds, but 16" of penetration is good. as long as it hits vitals! Now to opening up a hollow point it's been proven that if something fills the HP it's not going to open, and a HP thats not getting above 1000 fps is really not going to open up. Might as well been shooting round nose bullets. A semi-wad cutter bullet style would make a better wound channel as it would cut flesh with it's sharp edges.

A couple of videos with 5.56 hunting/self defense ammunition tests.

The Speer Gold Dot is a solid performer even at 62gr.

I like the 75gr Gold Dot bullet. Hopefully he'll get those tested soon.
