    Could be anywhere
Marlin 1895CB, .45-70 with Guide Gun furniture and Water Buff sling and Win 94 in .30-30, the first long arm I paid money for. Currently casually browsing for a Win 73 (long) in .45 Colt, case hardened with octagon bbl.

Was never a huge lever action person, just not my thing.

That being said, this is pretty fun to shoot and if I could get an 1894 in .357......I'd be tempted to do the same

2 late 1940s era Winchester 1894s in 32 Win Special
    1 Winchester 94 AE in 30-30 from 1982
2 Marlin 1893s in 32 High Power Special from the mid 1920s. One is octagon barreled and one is round
    1 Marlin 1895 CB in 45-70
    1 Savage 99 in 300 Savage
    1 Marlin 39 from 1926ish

I have my eye on a Winchester SRC 1895 in 30-40, but I don't know if I can pull it off right now.

Here is the color on the better of my Marlins -

I've always wanted a lever gun but don't know what's good one to start with for a good price. I don't want to go expensive and get one that's a thousand dollars

There is a Marlin 30-30 in the classifieds right now for $325. It includes some ammo.

I don't think you will make much money if you decide to sell it, but you definitely can't get hurt at that price.

A buddy of mine got a war era Winchester 94 at Louisville in January for $400. That was a steal.

The shore of wonderful Lake Michigan
    Marlin 1894 in 44 (kind of wish I'd have bought a 357, but I probably would wish I'd have bough the 44 if I got a 357)
    Henry 22 Youth
    Henry 17 Varmint Exrpess

There is just something about them that I really like. I need to get a 30-30 next.

That Mossberg 464 (NOT the tactical version) is really sweet.
Nice shooting, and won't break the bank.

I have a Winchester .44 mag 1892, one of the newer ones manufactured in Miroku, and it is possibly my favorite gun. Fit and finish are amazing. It has killed many deer. Everything it has ever shot at has died within seconds.

I would love to have another in .357.

I have a few. 2- Winchester 94's in 30-30. One dates to 1951 and the other is a Teddy Roosevelt Commemorative Carbine made in 1968. My Marlins are all JM stamped, they are: Mid 60's 57M in 22Mag, 68 336 in 35Rem, late 90's 1894 in 44Mag, and a 2001 1895 Guide gun in 45/70 with ported barrel. I'd like to have a Henry and it may well be a Long Ranger in 308.

    .
I think you can pick up a modern 405 for $1300 or so on GB if you're patient. Ammo can be found but isn't cheap, but the same can be said for 30-40 these days. Both calibers for me are cast lead bullets.
