We ate at Giordano's in Chicago a few years back. It was OK for what it was. Like others, I like NY style better, but apizza from CT blows both of those styles right out of the friggin' water. Especially a clam version with white sauce.

    Does Italy deliver?

    Yes, and how.

Even I will grant that it was a great pizza rant, however misguided. On pizza in Italy, meh. I've never had one in Italy that I'd rate higher than about a 7.

Giordanos is the York Peppermint Pattie of pizza. The mentioned confection is a contrast between a bitter, warm chocolate coating and a sweet, cooling center. With Giordanos it is the contrast between a firm crust with little salt and a gooey, spicy, salty filling that sets your mouth up for a pizzagasm. The texture contrast is a unique experience on par with peanutbutter and jelly. And as you chew, the salt from the fillings mixes with that crust that seemed bland at first - resulting in an explosion of wonderful cookie/crusty flavors.

I prefer spinach, sausage, and extra garlic.

    Yum!

I just like pizza in general. I've had Union Jacks a while back and it was good. Haven't had Giordano's...yet.

You know what they say! Pizza is like sex... Even if it's not that good it's still pizza! It's always good!

To each their own. Personally, I think Geno's is much better than Giordano's. Luckily for everyone, we are not stuck with one or the other. :):

If you like either, see below...

    Man. I miss Lou Malnati's.

Exactly. Lou's is better than Geno's or Giordano's. When I traveled to Chicago for work I'd pack a cooler and grab a few frozen ones to bring home. Not nearly as good as fresh baked, but it got me through the cravings.

Wish Lou's would move south.

I love pizza, I've had both NY & Chicago style pizzas I loved and others I've not cared for. For deep dish/Chicago style pizza, in Chicago I like Giordano's and Lou Malnati's, I've not been to the Indy Giordano's yet. In Indy, I like Ale Emporium's pizza.

For thin crust/NY style pizza, I like Greek's (multiple locations, all awesome) and this little place called 5th street pub in Perrysburg Ohio.

It's Ohio's only APN certified pizzeria, and it's really great stuff. 5th St Restaurant
