If a gun "needs breaking in" then it should not have made out of the factory. I just can't believe how many people have bought into that nonsense.

I took this from the Kimber full size 1911 owners manual.

    BREAK-IN PERIOD
Before firing the pistol for the first time, Field Strip
and clean the firearm following proper procedures.
    (see DISASSEMBLY, CLEANING and LUBRICATION
and ASSEMBLY Instructions in this Manual)
Kimbers firearms are quality custom pieces. Our
firearms are hand fitted to tight tolerances. For
proper Break-in of the firearm shoot 400-500
    rounds of Quality Factory Ball
    (230g. FMJ)
    Ammunition, cleaning and lubricating
    the gun every
    100-150 rounds.

I took this from Wilson Combat's manual...

    BREAK-IN
    The
    WILSON
    COMBAT®
pistol is a finely tuned piece
    of
    equipment
    constructed
    by
    knowledgeable
    technicians
    to
    extremely
    close
    tolerances.
    It
    is
    tightly
    fitted
    to
    assure
    maximum
    accuracy
    and long
    service
    life. We
    recommend
    that you
    fire
    a
    minimum
    of
    300-500
    rounds
    of
    full
    charge
    ammunition
    thru
    this
    pistol
    prior
    to
    initial
    dis-assembly.
    This
    break-in
    is
    necessary
    to
    allow
    the
    contact
    surface
    to
    properly
    "seat",
    thus
    insuring
    dependable
    functioning.

Your right... Only a HORRIBLE company would produce a firearm that has a hokey break in period....

My SCCYs did not need any "breaking in" just the routine clean it b4 you shoot the first time and again several hundred rounds later (just because it felt dirty) for the $$ they're a really good package
and if you do have any issue I'm highly confident SCCY will handle it promptly - regardless of how many owners it has had. I scored my first one for $200 and my second for a whopping $149......new.

He likes to rail against "break in periods" by stating things like "You guys keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it does"...

And then offers no further explanation of how he's smarter than myriad firearms design engineers who ask that such instructions are put into the firearms manuals.

You're not likely to get any further explanation out of him.

Wow... sorry about the retarded paste effect... I copied it from a .pdf

    Still, the point remains.

He seems like a troll to me, but I figured some unknowing passer-by might read what he posted and think he actually has the first clue what hes talking about.

sold 5 to 5 different friends and they are still friends. no problems with any of the pistols. not bad for the money. I am sure sccy will make any problems right if you ask.

I will state just observations of these that have come through shop/range. The CPX-1 and early runs seem TERRIBLE. The later runs seem to function equal to a KelTec at worst, and I own a KelTec so that isn't a nock. Affordable gun for those strapped for money or just can't justify spending more.
