Curious on what ammo you guys run for ar15s if you carried thanks

For most HD applications, I use the Frontier 62 gr. SP, which evidently they don't make any more. I also use Black Hills 77 gr. TMK in my DMR type rifles. My favorite range ammo is Aguila 62 gr. ball

Ahh okay I’ll research those you said , what about 308 and possibly 7.62 I’m stuck between the three

I don't currently have a .308 AR, but I do have a bunch of Federal Gold medal Match 168 gr. for when I decide to build one.

I primarily keep surplus XM193 55gr fmj as a do all round. I'm starting to play around with the 77gr concept and have some black hills, IMI, and AAC ammo to test for results.

For rifles just running red dots I use Wolf Polyformance FMJ 55gr. This should be plenty good enough. Since the velocity is high enough I tend to not worry about using a HP. For anything with a LPVO or magnification I use Freedom Munitions 223 55gr FMJ for better consistency between rounds.

I’ve seen the aftermath of a real-world shooting with that stuff and it didn’t work well at all. Or maybe I’m misunderstanding what you’re carrying.

77gr SMK's for 5.56 guns for everthing , it's not as good as the tipped 77gr ammo but it's what I gave stockpiled

Well, back when I would "carry" one... I just used issue ball ammo. Either 193 or 855.

I like the IMI Mk262 clone, and Federal bonded SP in either 55 or 62 gr.

My Larue Tactical likes Hornady's 77 gr TAP... but that's .223.

I currently stock M193 and M855 for practice/carry. I figured if it ain't broke don't fix it both worked fine for me on deployments.

I'd like to see some actual meat tests with that though. I wonder if it even has time to expand before it exits threats. I've seen ballistic gel before with it, but just not meat.

Its my home defense ammo in my 14.5 pin and welded BCM upper.

I have used it on hog critters too. makes them dead.
