    I had a completely different miltary experience the only time we didn't shoot and train all the time was during the Clinton year's. We didn't have money for toilet paper or ammo or anything.
    That being said pistol training is secondary in my experience.
    I did receive some cool training with it from some outside trainer's. We mostly practiced transitions in case our primary failed.
    In 24 years I drew my pistol twice and never fired it in anger.
    The 1911 were ok just wore out and I would say slightly harder to train someone on.
    The M9's were getting wore out as well the last one I was issued had no finish left on it.


    BTW
    The Rangers and spec Ops community will continue to carry what they want. Some avation units use a SIG 226 or similar Sig.
