Obama said last night that he will do whatever he can to make changes and use whatever power his position holds. I think that Obama knows that most of the gun bills will not pass the House. Obama will use his executive power to pass the bill. I expect some thing in a couple of weeks. He needs to get it through while this tragedy is fresh on people's mind. The only question is how much control and how far will he go. I just wonder what people will think after gun control is passed and shootings continue to happen.

The press will cover it up then. Like they do with most things that cast a negative light on the socialist agenda.

Man, this has gotten scary FAST. With extensive gun-control having been somewhat of a quietly underscored agenda of this admin, I can't imagine they're not going to opportunistically monopolize on this.

The administration does not have to push this issue along with much effort at this time. Public pressure and the retailers voluntarily pulling black guns off the shelves is painting a pretty clear picture where gun control and the AW ban is headed.

A retroactive ban of anything isn't legal anyway if I'm not mistaken. Correct me if I'm wrong please, but I don't think they could legally confiscate something that was already legal before any AWB was passed. Also, it would be a logistical nightmare for the poor suckers who had to round up every single one of the millions of legally owned AR's, AK's, magazines and so forth. And I'm sure the government would just turn around and sell them to some drug lord somewhere. In fact, it's probably in Sen. *****stein's bill.

They have the power to do whatever they want. That's what's scary about a congress that passes laws and THEN tells you what's in it.

It's only a matter of when. We all knew this was coming, which is why Obama has sparked a gun buying boom. The next incident could be even worse than what we've seen so far, prompting stronger controls. They'll take it as far as they can. Federal gun registration. Followed by an unreasonable level of taxation, forcing many to turn in their guns. Then confiscation one-by-one, model-by-model as guns previously deemed okay are reclassified as assault weapons. In the end we'll be left with flintlocks and muskets if we're lucky.

    Everything I've read says Jan.

But there's no way anything of substance will pass the GOP.....

Who knows? Come January we'll have more facts about the case and the shock will have worn down a little. I doubt that it will pass, but I think something unpleasant will happen.
Hopefully cool heads will prevail and any legislation will be meaningful and address the real problem while preserving the rights of gun owners. I listened to part of the president's speech today. He really knows how to say what people want to hear. He was assuring gun owners that their rights would be protected. I just hope it wasn't a "rope a dope" where we get the knock out punch in the end.
