Mug-n-Bun on the West side of Indy. It was the best 40 years ago and still is today.

Haven't been there a while. While the burger is good, it isn't great.

Can't agree with so many on 5 guys.

I like bacon cheese burgers. How can you go wrong? You can.

The two best so far is one local and one chain.

Mass Ave Pub downtown Indy has a great bacon cheese burger. I am not a fan of most chains but I got the bacon cheese burger from Outbacks once and have been getting it ever since.

I miss the burger from Stella's in Bellevue NE which was once on triple D. I have not been there since they remodeled.

The best burger I've had is one made from hand picked hamburger grilled on my infrared Solaire grill, with fresh selected bun and other coverings and condiments.

I've NEVER had a burger better than I can make my own...

    5 guys
    Bubs
Scotty's (not a huge fan of Lakehouse - no black & blue burger)
    Cheeseburger in Paradise
    Boogie Burger

All seem to know how to get their cook on.

    Somewhere else
in bloomington we have a few great burger places.

    five guys
    scottys
    bub's
    opie taylors
    trojan horse

honestly as much as I like five guys and bub's I have to say the burgers at trojan horse are the best in town, thing is most people local or otherwise know about them because everyone goes there for gyros.
I haven't tried Five Guys yet, but it sounds like I need to.
Scotty's food in general is pretty good.
I went to Bub's once. I was very much under whelmed. Over priced, mediocre food, slow service.
Opie's is the real deal. The chili burger rocks.
Trojan Horse food is good, haven't tried the burgers. I'll put them on my list.

I wouldn't say bub's is overpriced, it's only what $11-$12 for a big ugly? any other place in town is at least $8 for a far smaller burger. I know scotty's has their "big" burger but it's $25. on that alone I wouldn't call them overpriced.

    Try around 80 years...
My parents first went to the Triple XXX in the early 1930'a when they were visiting my Aunt and Uncle who lived just a few blocks from there.
    They are good.

A few year ago, they found their original root beer recipe that had been lost for many years.

Hinkle's Hamburgers in Bloomington is pretty darn tasty too. They make a pretty good burger. It's greasy as heck, but boy is it good. Kinda makes you think of a burger you might get at the fair or something. Simple, fresh, greasy, good.

They may not be over priced compared to other burgers based on size, but with service and flavor are considered I certainly didn't think that I got my money's worth and I ate there for free.
