This doesn't apply to the Carbine match, but when do they usually post cancellations on the web sight ? Thinking about going to the IDPA match tomorrow. Jim.

    Everyone,

Due to the overwhelming demand we have been forced to put a cap on new shooters. If you have already RSVP, or have spoken to us directly, you are good to go. If you did not receive a response to the RSVP you sent you are still good to go. We still have staff positions open for both CSO's and Kindle operators so please send us an email @ carbine.shooters@yahoo.com if you would like to help & shoot in the match.

Normally we would not put in a cap like this, but we are sharing the range that day with another event and to ensure everything goes smoothly we had to take this drastic step. We are hoping to have another match late spring for those that miss this one.

Finally, if you did previously RSVP and cannot make it please let us know so we can contact folks on the waiting list.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    All,

Just a quick update at this point everything is still a GO! We checked on the range today and it wasn't flooded out and the weather for tomorrow looks promising on the 24 hour forecast. Total round count will be 86...but of course bring extra.

    Thanks,
    Mike

This was my first time shooting a rifle in a competitive setting, it was enormously fun. Thanks a bunch to the Carbine Shooters for putting this event on.

Here's a couple vids of my stages.

    Everyone,
Scores are up in multiple locations (Thanks Joe for getting them uploaded so fast!) and we want to thank everyone who attended today's match. Specially we want to single out the CSO/Kindle operators who worked very hard today to keep everyone safe and the match flowing. Without there assistance these types of events would not be possible. Stay tuned for our next match announcement!
    Thanks,
    The MD's

Thanks to everyone who attended and especially thanks to the hard working crew at ACC who make these possible - these guys know how to support high quality matches and make the job of the MDs so much easier. When the club and MDs are operating off the same sheet of paper - everyone wins and the competitors get a higher quality match.

The ACC Cowboy action shooters were gracious enough re-arrange their match layout to allow us to setup in parallel with their previously scheduled match - much appreciated guys. And thanks to the competitors for their safety - that drives the train and if we cannot run a safe match, we won't run it.

We do not have a date for the next matches yet - we are working on those and will post once we know.

    A few observations:
    - AR-15/M4 pattern carbine was (by far) the dominate platform. Manufacturers varied but we saw some higher-end guns (BCM / Daniel Defense) in greater numbers. Other guns included 1 AK, 1 SCAR, and 1 AUG.
    - Most ran optics, ranging from AimPoints / Eotechs / Trijicons to less expense models.
    - Malfunctions did occur with weak magazine springs and poor ammo the likely culprits. At least one unknown manufacturer optic failed as well.
    - Many people had issues with weak/support side shooting.
    - Many people don't fully understand the offset off their optics in relation to impact of their rounds at close range. May people were jaw-shooting head shots which counts for scoring by may not be what you really want....
    - Manipulation and gun handling still lags behind what we see with pistols and that is expected. It is improving and that is part of why we run these matches.
    - Folks seemed to enjoy the event - always good news.

Next match will be similar format. We'd like to bring to everyone's attention they can alternatively shoot our WW2-era, SMG (semi), and main battle rifle (.308) categories if they find their M4 to be "boringly reliable". :-)

Thanks everyone for a great match!

    Mike & Mike,

Thanks for putting this on. I always enjoy coming down for these. It was definitely nice to see how many people showed up early to help setup.

ryan3030, enjoyed shooting with you. We had a pretty good squad. Great score! Maybe you'll get a chance to come shoot at Wildcat?
