The Mystic can covers sub sonics from 357 on down. I use it for 300 Blk with good results, plus it comes apart so is useable for 22 LR.

I also think a 22 would be the best one for suppression, and a bolt action would have the less noise, no bolt movement as in a semi-auto, and with the ammo you can get some real quiet 22 ammo, I have some now that are just primer no power and they are real quiet as is

Seems a lot of folks are picking 22 because it's the quietest, but are folks considering other aspects, like self defense use or hunting? The question wasn't "which is quietest?"

It seems to me that if you're talking about the best suppressed caliber for self-defense than .22lr shouldn't even be on the list. But then I'm new to the NFA game and know nothing about suppressors or how different calibers sound suppressed, with the exception of 5.56.

I chose .22. Nice to shoot with the kids without needing ears.

I chose 22lr, but I would think that it would be between 22, 9mm, and 45. 9mm being fairly quiet with 147 grainers and their small diameter and 45 being that it's inherently subsonic. I would like a 308 can, but it just seems like a big expense seeing as it's never going to be "quiet" anyway.

I disagree. I shot a suppressed bolt 308 last year with subsonic ammo, and that thing was crazy quiet.
Well I was thinking more along the lines of an AR 10 with full power ammo. If you're going to neuter the thing with subsonic ammo, sure it'll be quiet.
