Like em both......a fantastic fighting tool. I tend to favor the frame of the Gen 4 due to the slightly slimmer design. I generally put traction tape or Talons on my plastic guns so grip texture is not a game changer for me. I run a Gen 4 with no backstrap and it works well with my medium bony hands lol.

Everyone keeps talking about the bigger mag release... why no love for the extended gen3 release (originally found on the 34/35)??

I disliked the gen4 mag release. It had more surface area, but was harder for me to engage... am I the only one? I don't know if it required much more force, but the positioning and larger button was NOT helpful to me
I even switched it to lefty (I am a lefty) and still disliked it

I agree. The gen 4 mag release is bigger, but it is not necessarily easier for me to engage, compared to the gen 3 version. I added the Vickers magazine release on my gen 4 19 and I like it quite a bit.

You are NOT the only one.. I've installed slightly moded extended mag releases in everything. I like it much better than the Gen 4

I voted 'Other'. If going for that size gun, you really want the G23 Gen 3. Why? Because if you are buying a 9mm pistol and it's not a CZ, they you are doing yourself a disservice :):. Plus, with the G23, you can run it as a 9, .357 Sig or .40. With a G19, you have a choice of 9mm or nothing. I also opt for the Gen 3 because I like the Talon grip tapes and those don't hold as well to the Gen4 grip texture.

I prefer the Gen 4. My other G19 was a Gen 2, then carried a G23 Gen 3 for a long time, fell in love with the Gen 4 recently and picked up a new G19 last month that I'm carrying now. It just seems to fit my hands a little better than the Gen 3.
