It’s a position 99% of a department doesn’t want. Heck, being the police is a job 99% of the population doesn’t want. Departments are just about having to hire anyone who can pass a background check.

Chris Bailey took himself out of the running. Kendale Adams?

Called it, though certainly not the only one to figure that's the way it was going to go that way. It was just typical business/politic negotiation sort of stuff. It was obvious the mayor wanted him in the role and equally obvious he wanted it, so there was some sticking point they had to work through. What that sticking point was, well the rumor mill had some guesses, but since I don't know the veracity of any of them I'll not weigh in on that.

No shock really. Actually I’m surprised it took this long since after he returned from Ashville he went right back to his previous rank.

I don't know I'd deem it 'intrique' as much as the normal things people want and negotiate over for a job they are courted for. Money, self-determination, etc. Chief spot is a tough one in that your nominally in charge but actually second in command at the leisure of the mayor. Then combine all the concerns of law enforcement with all the concerns of a politician...I'm glad someone wants it.

But intrigue sounds less mundane than negotiation.
