It was a rental car? :lmfao:

    Or was it a Hurst?

Yes. Ford produced a series of Shelby Mustangs specifically for Hertz.

I don't recall a convertible, but I am no expert.

The folklore included stories of guys renting them for the weekend and then swapping out the engine for Plain Jane engine from their own Mustangs. Don't know if there is any truth to it, but I could imagine somebody tried it somewhere.

I did hear stories of guys renting them, throwing a set of headers on and some skinny slicks and taking them to the dragstrip. I can see that as being plausible.

I went to the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, MI yesterday. It's north of Kalamazoo. We were celebrating my son finishing welding school. If you have not been, you need to. This is my second time and I may go this weekend again. There is 1 room there with cars worth in excess of $60 million...which is completely believable and there are dozens of rooms.

A few examples, first the $20 million Nazi Mercedes 540K:

There are separate buildings that mimic a Ford dealership (featuring all kinds of Model As) and a Cadillac dealership. There are several buildings. Definitely worth it.
