Last month I decided to have some fun with one of my old duty pistols. I wanted to test a LW 9mm conversion barrel in my old G22 so I bought a threaded version for the heck of it. I saw a smoking deal on an ALG 6 Second Mount and decided to give that a shot also. It didn't look quite right without a magwell on it so I waited for one to pop up and snagged a ZEV a few weeks ago.

I like the setup and it should be fun to shoot but my typical "over the top" method of working the slide doesn't work all that well with the T1 eating up some of my real estate. I did some searching online for a charging handle setup and couldn't find one for the Glock that used the rear sight dovetail. There are a few options which replace the slide plate but I didn't care for the way they looked. I got bored this afternoon and decided to see what I could come up with on my own. I found a section of steel rod and went to town with a small bench sander, files, hacksaw and my drill press. I may drill & tap a couple of small set screws to help anchor it as it likely isn't tight enough to stay put under recoil but I need to be able to remove it easily to take the slide off of the frame. It's a little smaller than a lot of whats out there but I think it'll do the trick.

That ain't OSHA approved... It looks like a bone breaker on the left hand side and a blood letting device on the other..

I believe I would put a small handle on top like a M10...

The right side will be trimmed up a bit so as not to overhang but the left side will work just fine. It's smaller than many of the other options out there.

    Love the DIY sentiment.

Is there a reason you didn't have a knob on both sides? Seems like that would've made a 2-finger, claw type racking move easier, and been ambi.

While not particularly comfortable, this allows me to maintain the same method of pulling the slide to the rear that I normally use. I don't want to change the way I manipulate the gun, it's bad for business. :)

    .
Interesting set up. Don't own a Glock and can't see the other side of the gun, no issues with ejection of brass?

Forgot we have a cheap postal scale at the house. It measures to the tenth of an ounce and bounced back and forth between .2 & .3 so I'm gonna say it's right at a quarter ounce. I cleaned it up a little more and drilled & tapped a 4-40 set screw to hold it in place. Just need to smooth out the file marks and get it coated. Nothing revolutionary but it'll fit the bill.
