A cheap way to tan a hide is to flesh it very well then use borax on it. I use 20 mule team borax.

A cheaper way would be to brain tan the hides. As for burning the carcasses, have fun with that. You would likely cause more of a disturbance than if you left them for the others. I would hate to think what the smell of a half dozen dogs burning would be like.
