Applied February 4th 2015, my wife (clean record) received hers within 10 days. I on the other hand, had a dui on my record from October 2011. I know everyone has their own opinions on the matter, and believe me I understand and respect them. From what I've read Indiana requires that you have no more than one alcohol related charge within three years. My status changed to approved today, so I thought I'd share for those that may have a similar story. Basically stay out of trouble, and more importantly, learn from your mistakes... I know I have...

Applied and Fingerprinted through L-1: 3/4
Went to local PD to submit app: 3/4
Local PD tells me I am denied because of criminal history: 3/10
I go down, speak with the chief, and supply dispositions to prove I am not a convict, in which case, they then approve and send to ISP: 3/11
Contact ISP to see if they received the fax of my dispositions (they are very friendly)... They did, she approves me on the spot: 3/12

APPROVED... waiting for the mail! :-)

I wonder if having 2 Check Deception (Bad check) charges on my record from 19yrs ago has anything to do with the delay? I put them down on the application, although I don't recall having to answer a question to ANY convictions what so ever (except for felonies) back when I applied for my 4yr license 4yrs ago.....

The 2 convictions I have (back then) were class C misdemeanors.

Not sure, I'm guessing applications may be received in two batches. Basically if you left the convictions box blank because you have a clean record, assuming it checks out they issue the license.. If you fill out that box because you have a criminal record, it goes to another batch which checks your background more thoroughly... I'm obviously not a lawyer or legal source though, most of the info I found was via the Internet...

Mine ended up taking 58 days. No record, just slow. I feel like if I would have called them like some of you others it might have sped things along. Not mad though, considering what it is.

What's the wait people have experienced on the re-issuing of licenses? I want the new plastic LTCH to replace the paper one since I'll be travelling out of state a bit this year and want something that looks more official.

LTCH arrived in 3 days which was amazing, now just waiting for my new card on the mail.
