Imagine you're 5'10 145 - 150 lbs, male or female and you'd like to carry iwb with a crossbreed style holster @4 o'clock

    Glock 19 g4 or 26 g4

You want it to conceal well, not show through your jeans (into your butt!)

You also want the most effective weapon that will meet these requirements.

You can only choose between the two glocks.

I'm 5'10-5'11 and weigh 170lbs. I used to EDC a Glock 19 daily. Now, I EDC a Glock 26, and love it. It's way easier to conceal.

I have my Glock 19 as a dedicated house gun now.

I carry a 19 and can conceal it with a INCOG holster well. If your super concerned go 26 and carry a 17/19 backup mag. Benefit of a common platform.

If you are going to carry a Glock 26 with the pinky extension it's no bigger than the Glock 19. Just carry the Glock 19, it's easy to hide the longer barrel.

I don't use the mag extension. I have found that once I used to my pinky hanging off the grip, I am much more accurate with the G26 than the G19.

If you watch his videos, Hickok45 says the samething.

Another thing to remember is that the G26 is also lighter than the G19. Much easier to carry in the summer months.

Though I prefer the 19 , I don't agree with this. Because of the mass you are losing at the rear of the butt, even with a pinky ext. the 26 conceals better. IMHO.

I went from the G23 to the G27 for cc. I find the subcompact Glocks easier to conceal. Sure, you can conceal the 19, just not as well as the 26.

When I was a Glock guy, I went back and forth between a G-27 and a G-23. I found I preferred the G-23. With the 27 I preferred to shoot with the pinky extension which put concealability on par with the 23 anyway.

Weight has nothing to do with conceal ability; grip length is #1.

I fit the profile, 5' 10" and 145-155 lbs depending on how in shape I am. I prefer to carry a G23, but when clothing does not permit I will carry a G26. In a G23/G19-sized platform I prefer 40SW but in a G26/G27-sized platform I prefer 9mm.

So in cooler weather or with looser clothing I carry the G23. If I'm in shorts and a T-shirt it's the G26 or a Taurus 85.

Right now I edc a G26 and find it easier to conceal than my G19. If you put the pinky ext. on the 26 it makes pretty much the same size as the 19. So what I'm getting at is if you need your pinky go 19 if not go 26. With the 26 you are not losing much capability over the 19 anyway. A little sight radius, weight for reduced recoil, rail, and mag capacity. The distance you would most likely use your gun for defense won't have much effect with the sight radius, weight and felt recoil between the two shouldn't be a big deal in 9mm, mag cap off side g19 mag(I carry a g17 mag with a +2 extension in my truck), as for the rail I don't think most ppl c.c. a light. Maybe a laser?? If that's the case you could get a lasermax guide rod laser for the 26. But what you gain in concealability with a 26 should outweigh the pros of the 19. Especially with t shirt weather coming hopefully sooner rather than later. In closing you probably would want to go with whatever you will carry consistently and can hit with I find that to be the most important part.

Glock 26 would be obvious choice over g19 for concealed carry. I have both and use the g19 g4 for night stand, but i carry a shield 9mm. much easier to conceal.

Care to elaborate on this "obvious choice"? ...as that is the purpose of this thread, and the poll is going the other direction.

There is certainly more to choosing a carry gun than size.

26 with pinky extension is not the same size as a 19. Not to mention the barrel doesn't grow because of the extension on the mag. The barrel length is usually a moot point anyways.

Weight is is a factor. Loaded mag and gun "pull" on the belt when it's OWB and pushes the belt and pants down on IWB. I good quality belt will reduce or eliminate these issues, though.

I'd prefer the 19 with a quality holster and belt (which is how I carry a 19) but I also have a couple inches on you (height and circumference). Found a buddy who has both and try them both out (or a 23/27 since they are the same size). Also try the 26 with pinky extension. If you like the Glock platform, then one of the 3 options will probably suit you well.
