Deciding on my first 1911. Kimber 4" or 3"

My pick is the Compact model. Best of both worlds, officers model frame and 4" barrel. I've owned several and never a problem with any of them although most of the ones I've had were Gen I.

Another small note (not a big deal) is the slide spring life on the 4" is rated at about 800 rounds.

They are rated at 1800 rounds for the 3" Ultra.

That's very interesting. 800 rounds? That seems low. I thought that most 1911's get around 3000+. Is this low slide spring life span unique to Kimber?
