^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^ The only time I ever go in a Dicks is...NEVER. I had no idea they "killed off" Galyans though?. I liked that place, at least the one in Westfield.

Dick's moved into the Indianapolis market and started building stores in locations to directly compete with Galyan's. Galyan's eventually sold itself to Dicks in 2004. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galyan's

Isn't age discrimination illegal? We need some 18 year olds who want to purchase a .22 rifle at Dick's to file a lawsuit claiming "age discrimination" since State AND Federal law would allow the purchase. See what would happen if a car dealership refused to sell cars to anyone over 70 because they MIGHT have alzheimers disease.

What gun owners should do is come to all of their zoning hearings when they construct new stores and encourage our zoning boards to not grant easements, tax breaks, etc. Anything to make it impossible for them to begin construction.

we need to do THIS for all of those companies who don’t value our constitutional rights.

a group of gun owners in Greensburg have successfully nuked Starbucks, Chipotle, and a BW3 who wanted to build here. This just need to happen on a more widespread basis.

The article said they've already stopped selling them at Dick's but now they'll stop selling them at field and stream stores.

got it. I'm on hold with them now. 9 minutes into a 5 minute estimated wait time. Spoke to a nice lady who had a scripted response. Said they're logging all calls regarding this and forwarding to management.

I actually was there last week; bought some ammo that was on sale. Here, look at the silver lining guys. If noobs aren't buying ARs at big box retailers, they'll probably end up a LGS, and become loyal customers for accessories.

And be screened a little more thorough by a guy who has skin in the game vs a store clerk who is just working there for a paycheck.

Dick's is getting a lot of publicity for this, but they haven't sold these kind of guns in their main stores for over 6 years.

They'd been selling in a smaller chain, this is not as significant a move as they want people to believe.

There's 600+ Dick's locations in the US. There's 35 Field and Stream. Important to understand what's actually happening.

Ok, stupid question.....could they sell to anyone under 21 before? I thought you have to be 21 to buy from a FFL anyway.

Dick's says they will no longer sell "assault-style" rifles, nor any gun to anyone under 21.

I remember they stopped selling ARs after Sandy Hook, but apparently began selling them again in their Field & Stream stores.

Dick's Sporting Goods CEO on decision to no longer sell assault-style rifles: 'We don’t want to be a part of this story' - ABC News

Here is their four points from their open letter.

I will simply note their name fits them well.

Can't say I will really notice.... haven't been in one of their shops for more years than I can count.

Virtue signaling! So much more important than actual, positive, concrete steps.

It is much like when 150+ Democratic Members of Congress co-sponsored the latest assault weapons ban. They know there is no likelihood that it will pass, so it costs nothing to show their support.

Dick's might as well just bite the bullet and stop selling firearms at all. My shadow will NEVER again darken their door way for any reason. Dicks. And this after they MURDERED Galyan's. Dicks.

I bought my first rifle at Dick's, just a few years back. They were selling the All-Weather 10/22 at a very good price. At that time I was able to handle the rifle, check out the barrel and sights, but I was not able to test the trigger. The man at the gun counter boxed up the rifle, carried it to the check out line, instructed the cashier what to do, walked me to the door and handed me the box. It was my first rifle purchase of the modern era so I assumed it was normal. I later learned there was another way.

I returned to Dick's during the .22LR panic. I was able to pick up a few boxes by waiting in line before they opened. Prices were reasonable, especially at that time. Then came Sandy Hook and their stupidity of pulling the ARs from the shelves. I did not enter one of their stores for years. I only went back because my wife wanted to see their hiking boots. She had seen an ad offering a better price on an item than she could get elsewhere. Dick's beat all other prices, so my wife made the purchase there.

While I was waiting for her, I surveyed the gun counter. They had the usual assortment of long guns on the rack behind the counter. Names were clearly displayed—Mossberg, Savage, Marlin, Remington, etc. But I could not see any of the prices. Price tags were either turned to hide the price or the print was so small you could not read it from the counter due to distance. The counter guy was busy stocking shelves and I got the impression he was not interested selling firearms. When another customer asked about looking at a rifle, the employee was in no hurry to fetch it for him. We exchanged glances while waiting for the employee to unlock the security device and bring the rifle it to the counter. As soon as the customer saw the price tag he handed it back to the employee without another comment and walked away.

I continued to look at the rifle selection while the employee secured the rifle in its place. He then asked if I wanted to see anything and assured me he would get it for me if asked. I asked about a couple prices, and as he answered he began to unlock the security device. I told him not to bother. I just wanted to see the prices. All were higher than I could get at ZX and much higher than what I could get via https://www.wikiarms.com.

Dick's did have a good selection of cases for transporting handguns, rifles, and bows. They had a good selection of hunting camo, hunting gear, camping gear, targets, and ammo. But the prices were far higher than what one would pay at Dunham's for the same item. Similar items could be had for much less at Meijer or Walmart here in the Fort.

I assume they are making their money off the other sports. Baseball was heavily stocked. Golf gear was, too. Of course, the usual sissy sports were well represented—you know, the things that have no possibility of injury, like golf, soccer, biking, spectator sporting, tailgating, etc. There was a good selection of equipment for weightlifting. A great deal of the space was devoted to looking cool while avoiding working up a sweat.

I do not see another visit to Dick's in the near future. Better selection and prices at Tractor Supply or Rural King—or Meijer and Walmart.

I just sent this email to the socialist in charge at Dick's.:xmad:

Dicks sporting goods decision to stop selling "Assault type Rifles" shows their disdain for law abiding citizens and our 2nd amendment. I will NEVER spend another penny at a Dicks Sporting goods store, and will do my best to spread the word of your insult to all abiding citizens.
Please forward this to the socialist that made this decision.

Geez, what a Richard. Anyway, their gig so they can choose what products they want to sell. No problems from me as I support liberty. I will exercise my liberty by not shopping there

My first thought when I heard Tony Katz talk about this subject this morning was...."Didn't they already announce this after Sandy Hook?". Glad I wasn't crazy.
Stupid move but I'm not surprised. Store sucks anyway. Overpriced worse than Gander was. I make it in there about once every 5 years or so, just long enough to make me forget how bad it is.

Stopped in there last weekend with the family at Greenwood Park Mall. Went straight upstairs to see if any good deals. Found some Remington 38 special on sale for a fair price so I grabbed a couple boxes. Went to pay for it and they tried to charge me full price and it took 5 min. to get the issue resolved. Not impressed. After this stupid announcement was made that sealed it for me. That was my last trip in there.
