Took my oldest son to Atterbury Tuesday morning at 7:00 AM to ship to ARMY BCT. He arrived at Ft. Jackson, SC at 1:30 AM on Wednesday morning and has been non-stop since. We got a 1 minute call last night and he said he had been up for 37 straight hours, was bored with reception and couldn't wait to start training. He has been in the Guard since December and will be in ARMY ROTC at ISU this fall when he graduates from BCT. He wants to make it career after college.

Anyone else ship a kid off to BCT? We couldn't be more proud of him and the choices he has made. The kid scored a 98 on the ASVAB and all ones on physicals. His individual scores were all way beyond the min.'s for every MOS.

Can't wait to see him at BCT graduation.:patriot:

Relaxin' Jackson! (do they still call it that?) I remember that place. My blessings and prayers to him.

I don't know about Relaxin Jackson, he just said it was 10 weeks of "fun in the sun" and told his friends while they were playing "Call of Duty" this summer, he would be living it!

I went to FT. Jackson about this time in 1986 for BCT...It got the nickname in the late 90's. He will be working his butt off road marching all over in 100+ temps and humid as heck, they used to bring in water trucks and hose us down at ranges. Times change I'm sure things are different now but still a challange...Good luck to him. I know your proud. I also served 3 years as a Drill Sergeant at FT. Knox....I still like "Be all you can be" better than "Army Strong"

I'll take "Army Strong" over the "Army of One" thing.

I was just wondering if they were still calling it that? Been a while.
