    I think he touched on it in his post, just not directly.

    You do not have the right to make residence on someone else's property (without permission, of course), and this includes property held by the public. You do not have the right to be a "squatter".

    I tend to agree. You are welcome to be homeless, and there are plenty of folks who will freely give you a bed. You can't set up your shanty town in the park that the rest of the public is paying to maintain. You certainly can't set it up on someone's personal property.

    And yeah, I feel for the truly destitute. I contribute to charities that provide some comfort and aid.

    Well I'll just have to go ahead and disagree. I don't believe in tax-funded welfare, and therefore, people can & will end up homeless as a consequence. Obviously they can't stay on private property, and that means so-called "public property" is the only remaining option. I am also against using tax-money to feed and house bums in jail. So, there you have it. Bums exist, and jailing them is thousands of times more expensive than their living expenses require.
